This may be the 3rd or 4th review for PROSTYLE from me - I’ll say what I’ve said from the beginning- this is THE place to stay in Yokohama/Kannai/Bashamichi area
The staff, the vibes, the location, the rooms, the sauna, the restaurant- all top tier
Food for solo travelers, families, anyone - just book it and stop thinking about it
Highly recommended!
Staff was very nice and helpful. I honestly wish I would have just booked this longer instead of going to another one. I would definitely stay here again.

Exceptional staff. The area around is safe and there is walking access to most anything you may want, even The Golden Arches for those less adventurous.
This is THE place to stay. The staff is incredibly helpful, the amenities are phenomenal, the vibes are great. While many places will boast a traditional experience, this is the best one. We regret leaving the Yokohama area to stay at a hotel which paled in comparison.
Hotel hard to for taxis and a cleaning schedule is not something westerners will be use to. Subway quite close. Self check in. Dark in room as walls are painted very dark colour. Room had king size bed. Quiet hotel even im beside the elevator
This is one of my favorite hotels, ever. Quiet, dark, authentic, traditional. Great breakfast (get the Japanese menu) great staff, great beer in the lobby, the rooms are fantastic, the private sauna is something you need to do for yourself.
It’s a great location right near Bashamichi St with a great Starbucks across the street, konbini nearby, many stations and trains nearby, walking distance to the waterfront, Chinatown, great food and great bars.
This is where I will always stay when I visit the amazing city of Yokohama.
Don’t think about it, just book it, very highly recommended!
The bathroom is very clean and decent. However, not enough space for unpacking the 2 suitcases. Check-in process is confusing, need to use the machine, but then the staff needed to doo all the admin work once again.
Centrally located hotel, convenient for Kannai, Sakuragicho and Bashamichi stations. Fantastic bathroom with hot tub. Very child friendly. A few negatives: no laundry/washing machine, windows with frosted glass so can’t look out and only 2 choices of set breakfasts- American or Japanese. We were staying for 5 days so breakfast became boring. No onsen either unless you paid to use the sauna.
The room was smaller than shown but the bathroom was roomy and not the tiny one you usually have in Japan.
Only two choices for breakfast: Western (not impressive) or Japanese (gorgeous and tasty). Complimentary coffe in lobby and microwave oven for reheating store-bought meals. Very well located, close to public transportation and within walking distance to sightseeing spots, restaurants and shopping options. Staff English skills not impressive so, do not forget your translation app. Overall, highly recommended.
This is one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at
It’s Ryokan style, tatami floors and beds low to the floor
The staff is wonderful, the shower, tub and toilet are fantastic and so is the bed
There is not much in the room, a bed, a refrigerator, tea kettle and mugs and a counter type table, no chairs
Some of the rooms can be small, but that is typical of Japanese hotel rooms
They have a private sauna room available for extra fee
There is a great restaurant on the 1st floor and they have beer, wine and champagne for sale
They provide samue style tops and bottoms
Highly recommend this hotel
Don’t wait, if you need a room in Yokohama with a great location near Bashamichi- this is the place for you - Starbucks, restaurants and stores all in walking distance and a ten minute walk to the most beautiful waterfront
Book today, don’t miss out
The stay was very simple and comfortable. What bothered me most was that there were no vending machines nor ice machines inside the hotel. (not informed prior to check-in) I had to go outside of the hotel and find the nearest convenience store by myself which was about 100 yards by foot.
The service at the hotel is absolutely wonderful. I had to check in very late and they were extremely helpful and understanding even when the self check-in system failed. I did not use the sauna but took baths and showers in the room frequently. The tub is small but deep. The restaurant was closed while I was there so I was a little dissappointed by that. The tatami floors with futon are very comfortable and traditional while the room itself is quite modern. The futon is not thin and provided a comfortable place to sleep. You can't open the windows which was a bit annoying as not much light comes through the rice paper covering them, but it is a cute aesthetic. The air conditioning and purifier were helpful. My only big complaint is there is really no place to open your luggage or store it and there's no dresser to put clothes in or closet. I had to leave my suitcase open on one half of the bed. They do give you some hangers to hang stuff alongside the entryway. They are committed to you having clean pajamas, water, and towels and will leave you a bag of them outside your door to exchange your dirty ones with. There is a tiny and not very deep fridge. It i close to many stations and places to eat / explore. Not far from chinatown and shopping areas. Across the river are some excellent places to eat and drink. It is a bit far from the YCAT bus to / from the airport but cabs only take 8 minutes. There are convenience stores family mart, lawson, and 7-eleven within a few blocks.
The Bad:
The room was significantly smaller than expected. The double bed stretched from wall to wall with a thin mattress, making the space feel cramped. The window didn't open, and the air conditioning was locked to heating mode, making the room uncomfortably warm. Vents were visibly dusty, and the provided air filter had an expired, dust-filled filter. The fridge could only hold about eight bottles of water and barely cooled them below room temperature. The restaurant/lounge was closed (and has been since early January), which was disappointing. The TV was small, offered only local satellite channels, and the remote was in Japanese with no streaming options. The provided clothing didn’t accommodate anyone over 6 feet tall or 200 lbs.
Additionally, the laundry detergent or fabric softener used on the linens was very strong, causing my skin to itch throughout my stay. I typically use fragrance-free products at home, so while I can’t fault them for this, it was uncomfortable.
The Good:
The bathroom was excellent—modern with a heated toilet seat and a combined bathtub/shower room. The internet worked fine, and the staff was helpful and courteous. The lobby offered convenient extras like a microwave, razors, and tea/coffee. The location was great, with easy access to trains/metro stations, plenty of nearby restaurants, and even a Starbucks.
Housekeeping provided fresh clothes, towels, and two bottles of water daily. While the thought was appreciated, it felt a bit wasteful
