"We stayed during the hottest May on record, and the AC system in the rooms was not operational as we were informed by the front desk, that this functionality is only switched on for summer. As the room windows only open a few inches, it made for a hot and uncomfortable few nights stay."

"The staff were very welcoming even when we arrived very late (23:50) somewhat wet and bedraggled after a horrendous drive in the rain up the M6. We were met with an understanding smile and given clear directions to our room. The room was clean and warm with a comfortable bed. The room overall was a little tired. We would be happy to stay again."

"Only stayed one night to go to a concert. Said check in from 3pm but when I arrived at 4pm room was not ready. No air-conditioning in room but it was big & beds looked clean but whole place is in need of decorating. Lift was out if order. Kettle in room but only two mugs for three people. Had to ask a couple of times to get an extra mug. Did not use bath or shower over bath as didn't look clean. Towels are provided but no toiletries. Pub next door was good for a drink beforehand but doesn't do food. We went to Bents garden centre which is only 0.5 mile away for breakfast and would recommend."

"We booked a family room (2 adults & 2 kids) and the room itself, whilst a little dated, was clean and had everything we needed. The staff at the adjacent pub were very good. And the food there (we had breakfast & dinner) was decent. Though the breakfast being from 845 on a weekend did seem to cause a pretty predictable bottleneck when you have several dozen guests all ordering their à la carte breakfast at the same time. Only real letdown was the rooms bathroom, which really was quite tatty. Felt fairly old and in need of a refresh. Several tiles were damaged and poorly fixed, the bath had chips and subsequent rust marks on enamel and actually had a hole by the taps, can only imagine there must be water damage somewhere below. It was functional, I suppose, but not nice to use as a family with small kids. All that said, at £200 for two nights it was decent value, and the good outweighed the bad"
