We were pleasantly surprised with just how good the Monet Gardens Hotel was. From the moment we arrived, and we were early, there was nothing too hard for them. As we were early, our room wasn’t ready but we were offered a basement room. Being a bit unsure and being called basement rooms gave us the picture of a windowless dungeon. We stayed for 3 nights at the end of a holiday in January. We found the hotel staff couldn't do enough for us. The romantic cottage (to be more accurate, it is a large room which is part of the cottage with a fantastic jacuzzi). The room itself was spacious and well appointed. A wonderful stay and perfect after 36 hours of travelling from NZ: flying 26.5 but airport waits and some train transfers etc!! Staff were so friendly and helpful. A minuscule comment please can you get the local maps in colour so one can easily distinguish the canals when planning travel. We picked up a free one from a museum which was so much easier. Highly recommend the Canal Museum just along from teh Hotel heading south to the Van Gogh Museum. Enjoy, you won’t regret it

The staff were particularly welcoming and friendly. All aspects of the hotel building are high quality - particularly impressive given that it is within a number of classic canal houses. The gardens at the back of the hotel are surprisingly expansive and attractive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location is ideal as it is in between the City Centre and the main Museum (VanGogh etc) precinct in a very attractive canal neighbourhood. We were able to readily walk to all key destinations.
