Very nice property in a great location. Great layout to the property, well built, very clean and comfortable, with nice outdoor space, Owner was very quick and friendly in answering any questions.
Highly recommend staying here, this is the third time our family stayed at this home. Great location to Volcanoes Nat'l Park and the many outdoor activities. Fully stocked kitchen, lots of linens and blankets to keep warm (it is quite a bit cooler at this elevation ~3,500 ft) and just a comfortable home away from home. We recommend grocery shopping in Hilo before heading to the house, but the green Tuk Tuk food truck and the hardware store (for last minute snacks/food) are minutes away and good options. We look forward to our next trip there, thank you!
This was our second stay at this home. Great kitchen for cooking (staple spices/oil), blankets (including heated blankets) and towels, plus a few other extra touches that make your stay very comfortable. The location is minutes from Volcanoes Nat’l Park and access to miles of trails and outdoor activities. Highly recommend this host/home, they really make you feel like you’re on vacation. We enjoyed our time here just as much as the first time and look forward to spending our next vacation here!
This is likely the nicest, most well furnished vacation rental we’ve had the pleasure of staying at. Anything you think of needing was provided. It is about 5 miles from Kilauea, which we were lucky enough to see erupting! It’s remote, but that makes it quiet with amazing dark skies making the stars look very close. Overall, a wonderful experience!
Loved the place! very clean and well appointed. I was a builder for 40 years and really appreciated the features and construction of the house.
Only criticism would be; with 5 people there and rainy weather, the entry was kind of small for everyone to remove shoes and hang jackets. Maybe a few hangers outside the door, and a shoe rack inside or something like that.
Thanks again for letting us stay there and will stay there again in the future.
This custom built home was absolutely one of our favorites. It was clean, comfortable, quiet and had all the amenities you need for your stay. The layout was great and spacious, including the outdoor lanai. Just a really lovely home with so much custom details. Exactly as described and more in person. It was minutes from Volcanoes Nat'l Park, making it convenient to come back everyday for lunch. This time of year it was in the mid/high 50s at night and mid/high 60s during the day. There were lots of blankets (including electric blankets) to keep you warm at night. There is also a stove heater in the living room. The house manager was excellent and quick to respond to our questions ~ thank you! We did all our grocery shopping in Hilo (at KTA) before heading to Volcano, about a 45 minute drive. The hosts do a wonderful job of making one truly feel on vacation. We would definitely love to stay here again and highly recommend this home.
The home was in impeccable condition and immaculate. It was well stocked with attention to a guest's needs. The host clearly cared about providing a first class experience.
Highly recommend and a home we keep returning to. We were just here in March to see the volcano erupting. Everything about this home is well done and the host makes you feel you are truly on a vacation. We look forward to our next trip there!
This was an exceptional rental. Beautiful home in a great location and the owner has thought of every amenity. There was cooking spray in the cupboard, nightlights throughout, and fuzzy throws in the living room. Not to mention all the basic items. We would definitely recommend and stay again.
Excellent location close to Volcano Village and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park as well as Hilo Town. Well appointed, clean, spacious. We will definitely return! Mahalo nui loa!
The house was really nice and well stocked. Everything thing as described in the listing, no surprises. Great location, a few minutes from Volcano National Park and Volcano Village.
Would definitely stay here again.
We had a wonderful stay in Volcano! The house was very nice & well maintained. The kitchen had everything we needed (and more). It was close to the park so we could quickly drive in at night to see the volcano or drive home in the middle of the day to take a break from the rain. We would definitely stay there again!!
The location is excellent for visiting the Volcano National Park! Five minute drive to the park entrance. The house itself is nice and is tucked away in the forest. There is another house that is behind this one and uses the same driveway/gate but didn’t see anyone else while we were here. Comfortable king bed. We didn’t even use the other side of the house but it would be great for six people. Only downside was that they seemed to miss the floors on cleaning but fortunately there was a vacuum on site to use.
A great place for traveling with friends and family.
We visited this lovely home at the end of our vacation. We wanted to visit the Volcano National Park and Hilo. This was a great location that allowed us to do both. The house was clean and comfortable. It was also well stocked with everything we needed. We were a group of 5 (composed of 2 families- including a 2yo). The design of this house gave each family a private space while providing a nice central gathering space to hang out. The house was very cold when we first entered but it warmed up quickly with the propane stove.
Great house, wonderfully appointed, good location. Super close to Volcanoes National Park, so it was easy to get there before the crowds. Quiet, peaceful location, with nice landscaping touches, wonderful to enjoy on the covered deck. Layout was excellent, with master bedroom on one side and other two bedrooms on the other side, so parents could have some peace and quiet.
Kitchen had excellent equipment, and even some supplies. Plenty of linens. Best thing - two umbrellas, which we definitely appreciated!
We have stayed here many times because this home is well laid out, comfortable, consistently clean, quiet, lots of warm & heating blankets (was in the mid/high 50s F at night), has a stove heater, linens, lots of towels and well-stocked kitchen with basics (salt, pepper, oil, etc.). Great location and minutes away from the Volcanoes National Park, which is where we spend most of our time with many trail options/outdoor activities and if you time it right, catch the volcano erupting. Grocery shop in Hilo before heading in, but there are a couple of nearby small stores with the very basics and food trucks on certain days. It's about a 45 minute drive from Hilo. There's a covered lanai to sit and enjoy the view of the native forest and birds, too. Highly recommend, a home we will return to every time!
The house is beautiful (in our opinion). Loved the architecture; the layout and feel; the lanai and the gas fireplace were perhaps minor, but important features. Both my bother and I were exhausted from a preceding island trip and it was perfect for recuperating. We went to Volcanoes National Park as planned and that was super-convenient as well. We like to be away from the noise and hustle of more popular areas... this was our favorite place between where we stayed between Oahu, Big Island, and even Kauai. Only complaint is that you need a decent wine opener!!
