A large and clean room.
Some hidden prices and deposit.
Room and bathroom not heated enough.

Cheap and decent location if all you need is a place to sleep and roof over your head while staying around UBC. Room and facilities rather old. But clean and private enough and communicating with staff re: check in, check out were straight forward.

There's only one mirror in the bathroom, and no full size mirrors anywhere else on the property which can get challenging with others in the house. It's fine if you're just looking for a place to crash, bedding was clean but overall cleanliness could be improved.
Well.. I stayed in the basement room. The basement doesn't look too flattering. There is heating but it's irregular so most of the time it's quite cold.
The amenities upstairs were in much better condition. The kitchen and washroom there were fine.
All in all you have to take into account that this is a very cheap place to stay. I'm a student who had to spend a few nights, and for me the place was okay. But don't book this place if you want to impress your significant other.
The guest house was close to the bus stop and to shops! I stayed in my room most of the time and it was really quiet. I loved that it seemed like I had the place all to myself. I saw a female staff in the morning when I was checking out and she was very friendly. They also allowed me to leave my luggage in the guest house after I checked out. The only downside for me is that the room gets a little too cold in the afternoon/night, but the bed is comfy so I don’t really mind!

They owners turned the heat off in the morning , all day and until four pm. I had to vacate all day. Itwas negative 8 celcius one night. Not a pleasent experience. Jonathan.
This guest house has two separate locations which is never made clear on their listing. One is disgusting and under renovation which they purposely do not show in any pictures. The facility cleanliness is based on the other guests living in the house at any given time. Cleaning staff only clean when people leave. They charged me extra for staining sheets which I feel is not really acceptable unless stated in the conditions.
I already wrote you about it.
Decided to cancel it.
Have a case number too.
Still waiting to hear further from you

Given that the nightly rental rate is about one third of even lesser expensive hotels in the area it is difficult to disparage the West Point Grey Guest House UBC. What I got for my money was a small room in the basement of a house with a bathroom down the hall. All of this was perfectly clean and neat if a bit frayed here and there. It would however not take a lot of discernment to differentiate this from the Georges V in Paris; extremely minimal would be the mot juste. There are by the way two similarly named "guest houses" in the area, not both of which may be available on Expedia; be careful which you pick. There is on-street parking and I was very lucky there. It's a two lane street with cars parked on both sides so when there's approaching traffic it's a game of dodge 'em.
The doors do not lock, all they give you is a pad lock and key for when you leave.
Bathroom had a ton of mold on ceiling when you are showering.
No mirror or TV in rooms.
I would not stay here again. You get what you pay for.
Location is good.

My room in the house was clean, the bed was comfortable and the guest bathroom down the hall was spotless. It's in a nice residential area on good bus routes to UBC or diwntown. There are a few cafes and a good restaurant nearby.

Everything was as advertised. Clean and price appropriate.
I arrived to a dimly lighted area and was instructed to
go to a different house...somebody ended up showing up and giving me direction. We had to make our way through unlighted backyard....arriving at the room I found an other door that went directly on a messy outside. The door was not locked!
There was a glass for me to use, but there was a dead little bug in it!
The toilet didn’t flush! I could easily hear the people in the next room talking. The building’s renovation was not finished. I certainly had never experienced anything near of what this night was like....
The price certainly seemed to indicate a more professional setting!
I always thought that Expedia would be trustworthy?!
The very loud and squeeky commumial bathroom door right next to my room that kept waking me up throghout the night as other guests used it. Easy fix that made a bad night worse.
The walls are paper thin.. The bathroom which is shared, the door is stuck or makes a very loud noise. So if anyone else is using it at night, you are definitely getting up without your choice. I would not stay here again
The man running it was very rude and would not meet us at check in. He demanded us to etranfer him more then 150 dollars on top of what was listed as the price on expedia when booked, which seemed sketchy. His bathroom was discusting with drippong water from all faucets. * the room he provided us had a broken doorframe and broken lock, looking like it was previously broken into. Expedia should not allow this individual to use the website as he is completely unprofessional and the property was lacking
A great deal for the price. This place is super close to UBC (which has several museums and attractions) and the beach, making it a great location. This is basically a hostel type set-up, but you get to have your own room, which you padlock behind you when you go out to see the sites. Bathroom is shared, but there were only 3 rooms on my floor. So it was pretty accessible. Refrigerators are on both floors, and a full kitchen for meal preparation is upstairs. They provide sheets, blanket and a towel. Management lives off-site, but is there during the day for maintenance and cleaning. They were non-intrusive when on the property. I felt comfortable staying there. I moved to another place after a few days for variety and to get what I thought was a good deal. I ended up wishing I had stayed here the whole time.
