Charming, Modern Cabin-A house in Vail all to yourself!
One of the first ski cabins constructed in Vail, Columbine Cabin has been lovingly upgraded, yet retains its original charm. Deck is directly over Bighorn Creek/waterfall, Columbine Cabin is steps from hiking, biking, snowshoeing and backcountry skiing in the Eagles Nest Wilderness Area and an 8 minute walk to the free Town of Vail, electric shuttle system and 15 minute shuttle ride to VailVillage. Be mindful of your fitness level. If anyone in your group is unaccustomed to being at altitude, does not have at minimum a level of fitness, is elderly, or suffers from respiratory problems, we suggest you drive and park at the Vail Village parking lot. The cabin is not in a secluded, wilderness area, but located in an upscale neighborhood, yet just a 6-8 minutes car ride to charming Vail Village and the ski lifts of Vail Mountain. (a car is not required to stay here) Despite being close to everything, Columbine Cabin is a world apart. Private, in a desirable location the cabin provides the perfect escape for couples and small families. FOUR MAXIMUM GUESTS. NO EXCEPTIONS! See house rules for penalties if more than four guests attempt to stay here. If a guest is looking for a house for more than our maximum limit of four guests, this property will not be a good fit for you.
PLEASE READ, IMPORTANT: Many guests feel more comfortable speaking with their host before making an instant booking. VRBO (and third party booking sites) will only give potential guests /hosts each others contact information AFTER they have your money and only after a booking is confirmed on the VRBO site. Our dedicated "Columbine Cabin" Vail site contains the owner, (Aileen's), direct contact information. She hopes to speak with you to answer all your questions and possibly negotiate lower rates PRIOR to finalizing your VRBO "instant booking" on VRBO, when your payment is in most cases-non refundable. Our dedicated “Columbine Cabin Vail” website can be EASILY searched and found. Aileen can also send you sample rental paperwork so you know exactly what you will sign after making an instant booking.
NO EXCEPTIONS. ALL OUR GUESTS MUST SIGN: (this is also listed in our "house rules") 1. Columbine Cabin Rental Agreement- (must be 25 years or older to sign) 2. A credit card damage authorization form- $2,500 Please choose another property if you are uncomfortable with signing two rental forms. Contact Aileen with specific questions about necessary forms PRIOR TO making a booking, as she will be glad to provide you with a sample of these forms.
SEARCHING HINT: You are searching for a house in Vail. Right? Even though you desire a house in Vail, VRBO will provide you with accommodations in completely different ski/hiking towns in Colorado. Sometimes they are 35 minutes away from Vail. Additionally, you are searching for a "house" but 95% of the listings VRBO finds are actually apartments or condos. If you desire a house all to yourself with easy access to Vail Village and ski lifts, check the VRBO maps for exact distance from Vail Village. Homes in the Town of Vail enjoy the convenience of the free electric shuttle service to/from the resort. Be aware... VRBO might provide search results for homes in "Eagle Vail", Avon, or Minturn which do not have free electric Town of Vail shuttle service and are located 20+ minutes from Vail. Or you might see listings in Summit County, Keystone or Breckenridge which require a lengthy and a potentially dangerous winter drive over Vail Pass. Cleaning? Our organic, cleaning protocol is thorough, allowing guests to enjoy Columbine Cabin, avoiding as many concerns as possible! Duvet covers are changed after every guest departure. (no "reused" bedspreads here)
How safe is the area? Vail is an extremely safe community. That being said, the cabin is located across from a trailhead that can become busy in the summer. We do recommend that all doors to the cabin be locked when you are on a hike or out to dinner. Additionally, our security cameras monitor the parking and all entrances/exits. This extra layer of security isn’t needed, but done for your peace of mind. There has been NO incidents of theft at this cabin.
HEAVY SNOWFALL-We have a plowing service for the driveway only. This is plowed after 5" of snow. Keep in mind, when booking the cabin, there is no onsite maintenance staff to shovel the front steps of the cabin as well as the access to the trash bins. Shoveling services for the back deck is not included for our guests. We provide a shovel and broom so guests can manage the snow themselves. If a guest is unwilling to assist with keeping paths clear/safe, please make this known to the host so she can hire a service on the behalf of the guest. This cost is the responsibility of the guest. Typically $40 per visit. DO NOT RESERVE THIIS CABIN IF YOU ARE NOT COMFORTABLE CLEARING THE PATHWAYS FROM SNOW AND ICE. We suggest you book a hotel or condo where these services are usually included.

The Columbine cabin is perfect for a getaway. It is just far enough from Vail to avoid the hustle-bustle of town but only a few minutes drive from many nice restaurants.
The host is incredibly responsive. The property is very clean and appears to be newly renovated. We really enjoyed the location and plan to stay again when we are in Vail.
What a perfect, clean and updated spot right on the creek. Very private, relaxing and a great location just outside vail village. Will definitely be staying here again!
This cabin was the perfect escape into the mountains. It is completely updated and has gorgeous views from every window. It is very private, while at the same time, being only a 10 minute drive into Vail. I would love to stay here again!!
My wife and I stayed 5 nights at this very relaxing cabin. Aileen was extremely helpful, making our check-in, stay, and check-out process seamless. We’ll definitely be back with our two small children!
Great property, Aileen was very attentive and ensured the check in process was easy, clean cabin, with great amenities. We enjoyed our stay, there is a trailhead right next to the cabin, the trail is great and we really enjoyed the back deck next to the stream!
Host was great, she made sure we had a smooth check-in and an excellent stay.
The cabin has an excellent location, very close to Vail Village. The house was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The cabin was lovely and had everything we needed.
We would definitely stay here again!
Very clean and wonderfully furnished cabin nestled in the woods in a quiet upscale neighborhood with easy access to amenities and skiing. The property owner was great to work with and made sure our stay went smoothly. I would definitely book this again.
Amazing getaway in the most ideal, convenient location!!! Enjoyed the town of Vail but also got away to a few lakes not far away. Best part was the accommodations on the River!!!!!. The sounds of the River from the back deck was incredible!!!
For our first anniversary, the Columbine Cabin was the perfect place to stay! Adorable and beautifully designed l, the cabin met all of our needs and then some. It was just a quick drive from its location to Vail Village. The owner answered all of our questions with great courtesy and promptness. Our stay was wonderful, and we will certainly return.
The house was well situated for all of Vail. Quiet area with a beautiful waterfall right off the back deck. The house had everything we needed - kitchen was well stocked, bathrooms was great, and the bed was comfortable. Super clean.
I/we very much enjoyed our stay at this lovely home. Quiet, comfortable, clean and cared for. Ours was a long weekend of skiing in Vail. We did just that and could not be happier with our choice on this location. The pictures and property description are all accurate. The aspect that I appreciate most is the excellent communication with the owner throughout our planning and during the trip. Thank you!
Perfect little spot, very clean, and great location. The market and liquor store just down the road had everything we needed for a great New Years Eve family celebration. Though the bus stop is just down the hill, I would recommend driving and parking at Vail, the rates aren’t too bad and that hill is a pain to walk back up after a long day on the mountain. We will be back.
This cabin is absolutely stunning, so beautifully remodeled while keeping the mountain rustic charm. Everything was so clean, nice, and the space was wonderful to relax in. The owners even left me chocolates for my birthday! There is a waterfall off the back porch and you can hear the calming sounds from it anytime in/around the house. Pure magic going to bed and waking up to the sound of a waterfall! Convenient location, there’s a hiking trail out the back door and Vail is a short few mins drive away. Columbine Cabin is our favorite place we have ever stayed and we can’t wait to come here again!
Fantastic property for a romantic long weekend get away! Great location, beautiful views and convenient location to get on bus to Vail Village. Place was very clean and tidy and the property manager made the trip special by recommending local restaurants and things to do. Highly recommend staying here and we will be back!
This a beautiful, cozy home in a great neighborhood. It is a short walk down the hill to the bus stop that takes you to Vail village for free. The communication with the owner was excellent, the check in process was smooth, and she gave great recommendations of things to do locally.
We had a great time at the Cabin. It has an awesome stream/waterfall behind it. It’s fun to watch the squirrels run around in the back.
Aileen was a great host and was very accommodating. She even suggested several places to eat while we were there.
We would highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a place around Vail.

Property was not very clean
Apart from the fact that the property was not very clean we had no toilet paper nor trash bags. When I complained The owner apologized but that was it, no solution no amends.
We had a wonderful Summer stay at this newly-remodeled cabin! It is hard to beat the location in East Vail. The deck is surrounded by evergreens and looks directly at a small waterfall. There is a trailhead about 50 feet away, and a short walk to the free bus that runs to and from Vail city center. There is parking reserved for residents of the camping.
The cabin itself is newly-remodeled and well-furnished. It is very clean, the linens are soft and beds comfortable. The kitchen appliances are new, and the deck includes a firepit, grill and seating to enjoy an evening overlooking the waterfall. The wi-fi works great.
Finally, the property owners are extremely responsive, and had great suggestions for things to do in the area. They went out of their way to make sure we had a great stay.
Needless to say, we highly recommend this property and hope to return next time we're in Vail!
