"If you are a non-smoker, do yourself a favour and skip this place. The hotel uses central air conditioning and the rooms on the non-smoking floor (level 7) smell musky with a stale cigarette stench. We had 3 rooms in my group and all the rooms were the same even when we changed rooms. In addition, most of the service staff were non-Japanese, they could not communicate well and did not appear to be well trained and quite rude. "We enjoyed our stay at this property. Our room has a private onsen with a view of Lake Toya. It has a traditional Japanese aesthetic with all the modern elements. The property itself is not located in the Toyako Onsen area but they offer free shuttle service (about 5-min drive).
