Fantastic location, easy to walk most places. Also very close to a subway station. Not the best hotel comfort & cleanliness wise, but for the price it was fine and the location definitely made up for it.

The Staff was really nice and helpful, room services did always a good job but the room that was shown on the web are old because the actual room was a bit in bad conditions but it was enough for us because at the end of the day we used it just to go to sleep and that's it. so to go just to sleep and get clean to go out it is more than enough for the price but it is nothing special.

Very disappointing
Check in at the lobby was OK but as soon as we got to the room it was in very poor condition and we instantly decided to check out and find a different place.
Not quite like the pictures you see in the website.

Value for money for family room
The room was new and value for family of 4. But the bathroom has one door share between the toilet and bathroom. Lobby area under construction n need to do up quick.

There were some fault informations about this hotel on hotel.com as of 07 Nov. 16. - Laundry >None. - Wired Internet >None.But wifi is available and comfortable. Not so clean but very cheap and good to access to central of Shanghai. Totally, I think it is reasonable to choose this hotel just to stay, not to enjoy luxury life. And this hotel is on Fuzhou road. But near people square, there's another hotel so please take care.

Poorly maintained hotel, very noisy.
The hotel is in very poor condition, not as per the photos. We stayed only one night and cancelled the rest of the stay as we were not able to sleep. The people staying next door were very noisy. The comfort of the room is really not there! Not a good choice.

it's your call...
well, we just got it because we do things in there. we got a nonsmoking room with a minibar. there was no minibar and it was a smoking room. i'm allergic to smoke. there was a pretty bad leak upstairs that came through the ceiling. mold was growing in 3 corners. i'm a little sensitive to mold as well. so, i sprayed alcohol on it and we stayed outdoors until sleepy time. we did our thing then left the next morning. it served its purpose. but i would suggest to not trust the 3 star rating :)

shanghai cheap but not so cheerful!!
a budget priced hotel but in a good location. some upgrading work was in progress which is much needed. an old hotel which is pretty grubby. hallway carpets were dirty, shower door didn't close, kettle in the room but no tea, coffee or cups provided.booked a double room but when we got there none were available. windows had never been cleaned since the hotel was built and did not fully close so it was noisy.

Really dirty hotel - Do not book it!
The room was in such poor shape and so dirty, it shouldn't even be rented out. The floorboards were broken so there were gaps on the floor, the bathroom had mold and was so dirty I didn't want to take a shower. There was hair on the bedding before I even laid down. I had to drape my clothes over the pillow before sleeping. The molding around the room was chipped and very dirty. The hotel staff couldn't speak English so I couldn't even ask for directions, but at least they tried.

I stayed there for 3 days. Hotel building was really old and room was really cold. Bathroom was not really clean. Bulding and room was really old so I didn't really like there. The location of this Hotel is really good!!! Best location old building.

Nice staff, helpful, poor hotel facility level, no internet in rooms, no heating from 10 am to 8 pm...no coffee just a machine to boil water...for what than? Clean and relatively quiet, good location. Worth the price however will never stay there again.

Perfect location but hotel condition is 2 stars
The location is on the famous location. Walk able from People's square station to hotel, close to Nanjing pedestrian rd. and not far from The Bund. Hotel staffs are able but not so good to communicate in english but not for everyone. Room condition i got it a bit worn out. I can see a long crack in toilet wall, peeled paint, laminated floor are bad condition. But it seem they been renovate the room before coz the decoration are ok. If you just need a place to sleep, cheap and good location. This hotel might be ok. But if you can pay a bit more you can get a better one near by.

A bit old but ok
Location is very good. 3-5 minutes walk to People Square metro station. Room is a bit old and very basic. Noisy in the evening but back to quiet at night. If you stay just for a day because of the location and price, that's ok. Not recommended for longer stay.

Do Not Expect Anything but Location Fantastic!
I wasn't expecting a 4-5 start hotel when I arrived but wow! I should have lowered my expectations even more... First off...not only does the staff not speak English, they are just out right rude! But I found that through out my stay in various places. As far as the room, I was suppose to be placed in a non smoking room but smelled like smoke and was told no more rooms available. I had to ask them to change my sheets after a few days and the only way they understood what I was saying is because I pulled them all off the bed. The paint was falling off the ceiling in the room onto my things and again they didn't understand at the front desk until I actually showed the cleaning/maintenance person when they showed up....their solution - wipe it away for the moment but no explanation as to fixing the issue. Luckily it wasn't falling in the bed area or the bathroom. Even the doorman was rude...I sat in the lobby area one day awaiting a ride and I saw that he opened the door for everyone that approached but when ever I came or went, he never did that for me...totally rude! I can say that I had one good experience at the hotel when the business office located inside did whatever they could to understand and help me. So a huge Thank You! to the office staff. I can't say that I would recommend this hotel to anyone even though the price and location is great.

When l got to the hotel almost at midnight was hard for the check in because de employee did not speak English... And the worst thing the hotel lobby smell so bad, it wasen't a good experience during the time waiting at the lobby

The hotel is located in an excellent location in downtown Shanghai. There are many restaurants around it and the biggest bookshop in Shanghai is nearby. Living in this hotel saves me lots of travelling time. The hotel staff are nice and helpful.

Great for the money!
The room was just fair. No fridge, no safe, no laundry facility. We found the staff nice, and they tried to communicate with us even though their English was very limited. The location was beyond great, so it was just what we wanted. What can you expect for the price?

A budget hotel with excellent location
I only stayed in Shanghai for three days, so the location of the hotel is my top priority. This hotel can be connected to the 2 major airports by metro system directly. Besides the hotel is within walking to all attractions like the Bund, Yu garden, Nanjing Rd...etc, and there are numerous inexpensive restaurants and shops around it. The staff are friendly, but with limited english ability. The room is clean, but if you are picky, you had better bring your own towel, soap and shampoo. After all, it's a budget hotel. I have no complaint considering its price and great location..

Great location
The hotel really has a great location. It is close to the giant Shanghai Bookstore and Raffles City. There are many restaurants around the hotel including KFC which sells Chinese breakfast!

Only for ONE night
It was a horrible stay. There is NOTHING international about this hotel. Staff doesn't speak English and they hate speaking to foreigners. Their faces are easy to read. Location is great! I stayed in a room without window. It was a nightmare. The walls were covered with mould. It is not possible to set the AC very high so on hot days it was very uncomfortable in the rooms. The worst thing is all staff have walkie talkies and they will wake you up yelling all day long. Even worse is when you wake up in the middle of the night because you are suffocating because someone next door smokes heavily. Horrible hotel. Unfriendly staff.

Great price for a decent room and perfect location
Don't expect to get the best possible hotel here...the price is super low for the perfect location. However, we found the conditions perfect for our needs. Internet, clean bathrooms, AC. The staff doesn't speak much English and the pillows are really thin, so expect those negatives, but overall it worked for us.
