"Very modern looking and feel inside. Its close to everything downtown including bars, restaurants and coffee shops. (Don’t expect any beautiful views out the windows though, its surrounded by other buildings)"
"We were "upgraded" shortly before our one night stay to this room without a window. It didn't matter for us because we weren't there except to sleep, but it wouldn't be a place I'd want to spend more than one night. The location is excellent. The hosts are very easy to reach. We had three issues, one being very spotty internet, the Roku TV didn't work right (not a huge deal generally, but my husband had hoped to watch a NBA playoff game), and the worst part was no hot water. That cold shower was...

10/10 Excellent
"We absolutely loved this cute boutique hotel on our favorite street. . Very clean and safe. So easy to find and centrally located in Old San Juan. The room had everything needed. We will definitely stay here again. "
"Beautiful, roof top sitting with a view of the city, I looove the coffee options from the complimentary coffee machine. Check-in was a breeze, young lady at the front desk was nice, room was clean, bed was a bit creaky but comfy, toiletries and complimentary water were available. Walking distance to many restaurants, store, sights and sounds of Old San Juan. Only downside for the room I booked is that there's not much space if u have a lot of bags or a big bag. It was a good for a solo traveler and would be good if I ate traveling light. I was in the 1 bedroom queen size bed I believe. "
"If you like the vibe old san juan and renaissance, this is hotel for you, walkable to all the restaurants and bars, would not recommend renting a car because parking in old san juan is difficult. Quiet and clean hotel. The AC is strong as well, good for summer."
"We loved every minute of our stay at El Colonial. Because we booked through Expedia (we think?), we had access to the unlimited open bar in reception, but the main perk of that was the bartenders! Friendly, knowledgeable, interesting -- talking to the bartenders and hearing about PR was literally the highlight of our trip.
Also, wonderfully, the way the light hit our particular room meant that, in the mornings, there was a camera obscura projection of the street outside onto our roof!
100/10 (because of the staff!)"
"Very unique architecture. Everything was beautiful. We loved the aesthetics. Very quiet on the balcony or the rooftop. Food was beyond excellent. Very delicious meals on the rooftop by the chef. Also the bartender made amazing food and cocktails. We couldn't have had a better time."
