"ok for one night"

"The expectations are pretty low in Iquitos, but this hotel managed to slip UNDER them. Staff was unaware of my reservation (having a digital copy of the Hotels.com receipt saved me) and just seemed unable to make things happen. I asked numerous times if I should just go somewhere else, but they seemed powerless to even enable that decision. The room was dirty (stained sheets and hair in the sink drains) and the towels wet. That last point can be forgiven in the jungle, but not when piled...

No furniture in your room except for a bed with no cushioning and rough bedsheets. No hot water. Not even soap or a small mirror in bathroom. Rough unfinished wood on walls. Transport to lodge is done in boats in terrible dirty unsafe boats with no adequate life vests. Two hours on the river to get there. Water getting inside boat and driver scooping it out by...

"The staff is outstanding! Friendly, helpful, a really lovely group of people. The room was spotlessly clean. Breakfast included fresh pineapple juice and a delicious omelette. My only complaint is it’s very noisy both in the hallway and outside from the traffic."
