On check-in I was greeted with a hot towel and a free upgrade. After a quick process I was up to my room where I received a text message to ensure that everything was in order and inquiring whether there was anything they could bring up. I got another text contact later that day similarly inquiring. Each time I left or entered the hotel the staff greeted me. Overall the staff attention to guests was excellent. The hotel and my room were very nicely furnished/finished. My bed and linens were comfortable and there was a more than adequate supply of good quality towels, etc. My particular room (on the 8th floor at the back of the hotel) was very quiet from outside noise, and although I was close to the elevator it was not an intrusion. The bathroom was reasonably spacious and bright. I had been asked if I minded a shower-only arrangement as part of the upgrade and I said I did not. The only remote irritation was that, in order to turn on the shower (spin handle direct to shower) I was inevitably drenched in cold water spray. The arrangement of the door and the lack of an option to direct spray to a down spout or otherwise made it virtually impossible to not get cold/wet initially. Minor design flaw, but just one of those things that irritate.
