The best area to stay in Rampside is along the waterfront, particularly around Roa Island and the Rampside area itself.

This area offers unparalleled views of Morecambe Bay and the distant Lakeland fells. It's characterised by its maritime heritage, with a mix of traditional pubs and a few guesthouses. The main road, Rampside Road, connects the mainland to Roa Island, providing easy access to the historical Piel Island Ferry. It's generally a quiet area, great for those seeking a peaceful retreat by the sea.

Couples looking for a tranquil escape will find Roa Island particularly appealing. The island is small and walkable, featuring the historic Roa Island Lighthouse and a small harbour. It's an ideal spot for romantic strolls along the coastline, enjoying the sea air and watching the boats.

For those who enjoy outdoor activities and a bit of exploration, the Rampside area provides direct access to coastal walks and birdwatching opportunities.

The best time to visit Rampside is during the summer months, from June to August, when the weather is generally at its finest for exploring the Cumbrian coast.

During this period, you can expect longer daylight hours and milder temperatures, making it ideal for enjoying outdoor activities such as coastal walks along the Rampside shoreline or exploring the nearby nature reserves. The sea breezes are often refreshing, and the chance of rain is lower compared to other seasons.

For those who prefer a quieter experience with fewer crowds, the shoulder seasons of late spring (April-May) and early autumn (September-October) also offer pleasant conditions. The weather can be a bit more unpredictable, but you'll still find many days suitable for outdoor excursions and enjoying the natural beauty of the area.
