"Beautiful property. Very very nice inside and out. Quiet and comfortable. Very close to the volcano and restaurants. Wish we could have stayed an extra day. Spend a day and evening at the volcano and another down to the ocean and sites along the way. A great home base for an adventurous family, play hard all day and relax for the evening in comfort. We have been traveling for a week so the washer/dryer in the attached garage was timely. Wouldn’t hesitate to return here in the future.Thank you. Don and Catherine"

"The room came with an amazing view and had good facilities. We unfortunately didn't get a chance to use the hot tub but it would've been lovely with the sunset. The kitchenette was well stocked and the room and hostel was very clean and well kept. Would definitely recommend for someone to stay here."

"They have free breakfast, clean room, spacious siting area, and very helpful staff. You can cook you food here as they have a well equipped kitchen. For those who want to see hilo night lava, they offer free tours also, but please remember to tip the staff. Normally tours like this cost $ 220 to 260 with tours companies in hilo"

"This hotel is more like a rental house than typical hotel. There are only eight or so rooms and each one has nice views with privacy. There is no staff on site but you can contact them is needed. I would stay here again. One thing to consider, you are 30 minutes from most services. If you don’t mind that and want something quiet this is a great option."

"Hilo House is a wonderful Hawaiian property! In and outdoor cooking facilities are excellent, great breakfast spots both in and out, sleeping arrangements are plentiful. It's hard to believe the house is as close to town that one can actually walk there."
