"Super clean and comfortable room. A little tight by US standards, but more than compensated by quality and comfort of bedding and linens. Bathroom was immaculate and featured a lovely heated floor. The staff was authentically attentive and friendly. The onsite restaurant, Nichinan, had superb cocktails; you’ll need to peruse other reviews for clues about the food. The location is excellent- just a few steps away from the super-cute, bustling and varied commercial and entertainment options of downtown Portsmouth. Cheap public parking garages are just a few blocks away, but we recommend the valet parking service, which is worth the premium to avoid trundling suitcases through the busy downtown sidewalks. We will definitely choose the Thaxter again the next time we visit. "
"Only stayed overnight. Hotel is very nice and our suite is wonderful and quite spacious. Will definitely stay here again if we ever go back to Portsmouth. "
"Our stay in Portsmouth was great. Everything is so walkable from the hotel, we enjoyed leaving our car parked across the street for a day. The hotel itself is beautiful and we specifically loved all the amenities, like the pantry, coffee maker and robes - nice touch. Would definitely come back here if I were to visit Portsmouth again. "
"I always rate my stays by the quality of the breakfast. Protein or no protein. This place had yogurt and cream cheese but no eggs, bacon, or sausage."
