This small guesthouse is a gem! Our twin double room had a large sitting area and was probably more than 400 sq ft. The communication before arrival was excellent. The breakfast was very good and they allowed us to check our luggage while we explored the city. I would stay there again.

Located in an excellent, central area. As similar reviews noted, it was fairly noisy when someone was walking past the bedroom door due to the wooden floorboards. Breakfast was a nice selection of pastries/ meats/ cheeses and hot drinks. Would stay again and recommend to family and friends

Cale Guest House is a heritage property with many stairs. We knew this prior to staying, but still a lot of climbing. The amenities were simple, yet met our needs. The staff were great, the rooms tidy and clean and beds were absolutely the best. Breakfast was quite adequate and tasty. The location near the river was ideal for dining, but crazy busy for the end of September. We enjoyed our stay.

Staff was great and very helpful with any questions. Location is the best. Centrally located to city center. Breakfast was nice, fresh juice and fruit with all the other essentials for a European breakfast.

Lovely place to stay and a great location in Porto. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. We only had one minor issue with our A/C unit but it was quickly dealt with by the front desk staff. Would highly recommend.

I had a wonderful stay at Cale Guest House. The location is perfect—so accessible to many of Porto's top sightseeing spots, making it easy to explore the city. The view from my room was exceptional, and the rooftop area added an extra special touch for enjoying the night scenery. The house itself is old but beautiful, filled with character, and the staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful. A couple of small downsides were that there was no elevator, which might be challenging for those with heavy luggage, and no refrigerator in the room. However, these were minor inconveniences, and overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I'd highly recommend Cale Guest House to anyone looking to experience Porto’s charm!

Porto City Break

Excellent location in the centre of the old district. Very good breakfast. Room was clean and as is typical of houses in the area has steep stairs to all rooms so if an issue it’s best to request a lower room but not a problem for us. Highly recommended.

This property didn’t disappoint. Staff were so friendly and helpful in recommending places to eat. Room was quite basic but functional and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was fantastic. Freshly baked rolls and croissants and freshly squeezed orange juice. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were always available to help in any way they could. The property is excellently located. Lots of steps in the property with no lift option so wouldn’t be good for less mobile travellers. A welcome drink of locally produced port was a nice touch too. I would definitely recommend this guest house for anybody visiting Porto. We loved our stay there.

I just wanted to say thank you for a wonderful stay at the Cale Guest House, from the very beginning to the end of our stay could not have been better. Vania and Diogo were the most pleasant people to have greeted us, set up a first class breakfast with a high quality fresh squeezed OJ, mini egg tarts famous in Portugal, among other things, along with a comfortable bed with room cleaning every day. I must say that my planning with two other cities involved in our trip I was most concerned about this stay, without hesitation I would highly recommend this place as a wonderful place to call home. If you can walk the hills of Porto you don't have to worry about a few stairs to work off the extensive restaurants selection in the neighborhood Cheers from Dan and Colleen, Langley, BC. Canada

The place is not close to the main areas, but it’s not bad with an Uber ride. There is no sign, but easily recognized due to it’s red brick exterior. Staff were AMAZING and helpful and the area out back was nice to sit in with a glass of local wine. The basic room is VERY small with no chairs. The bathroom is beautiful, but the shower is not functional due to its small size. You literally can’t wash yourself without opening the glass door. I understand that we paid for a basic room, but with the price, I would have expected something bigger. There is also no coffee pot or water in the room. The room has a small fridge that has water and a few drinks for 2 euros each. Overall, it’s a beautiful property and the staff are an asset.

We stayed 1 night of 3 nights here and wish we had done it all at Cale. While it doesn’t have huge extra amenities it is clean , rooms big, view incredible. Feels like home. Could not be more central. Everything is within a few minutes walk. The staff (thanks Chris and others) knock themselves out to make you feel at home. Breakfast is great and the welcome discussion and orientation at arrival over complimentary port is fantastic . When we come back we will stay here again.
