"The short version of this review: Paradise at a pleasing price! Our stay at Gatun Lake Lodge was wonderful! Pierre, our host, was entertaining, accommodating, competent, and charming! "I arrived with low expectations after reading several reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised by my experience at this resort. The customer service truly stood out. Carlo, the bell attendant, provided excellent assistance, and Edwin, the bartender, delivered consistently outstanding service. He crafted my Old Fashioned perfectly every time, demonstrating both skill and pride in his work. The dining options were very good overall. The seafood and Italian restaurants were both excellent and highly recommended. The poolside restaurant offered attentive service, though the food quality did not match the other venues. Additionally, despite netting around the restaurant, birds often made their way inside, which was distracting and unappealing. The accommodations are comfortable but dated. The furniture showed noticeable wear and stains, and the mini refrigerator was in need of replacement. A deeper cleaning would also enhance the overall guest experience. Despite these issues, I was still able to enjoy my room. Guests should also be aware that the resort is located approximately one hour from the airport. In summary, while there are areas that could be improved, I had an enjoyable stay and would gladly return in the future."

"From the moment i stepped inside the staff greeted me with open arms. Because I arrived early I stored my bags while I headed out for an early lunch and a drink. The location was great. One corner of the block offered a wine bar, the other corner a brewery, and right next door to that another great restaurant/bar. Two blocks beyond that there was a mini mart two minutes beyond that the laundromat .Made a few stops in the story and it had everything I needed to make my week long stay a bit more comfortable. I was on a side street so hearing any cars or people wasnt any issue. Location was the best. Walking distance from plenty of dining options and sites. "
