"This was a wonderful stay! The cottage was cute, had all the amenities and the host was responsive with communication. It was warm, we loved the wood fired heater, and we were provided with breakfast supplies and other great additions. We could even watch Netflix after a tiring day on Mt Baw Baw.Thanks a million!"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Piedmont?
The best area to stay in Piedmont is the town of Alba, particularly for those wanting to experience the heart of the region's culinary and wine culture.Alba is a bustling town known as the capital of the Langhe region. Its historic centre is compact and very walkable, with streets like Via Vittorio Emanuele and Via Cavour lined with elegant shops, cafes, and restaurants. The town is famous for its white truffles and excellent wines, making it a central point for food and wine enthusiasts.Couples often find Alba ideal for a romantic getaway. They can enjoy leisurely strolls through the historic streets, indulge in world-class dining, and easily access nearby vineyards for wine-tasting experiences. The town's evening ambience is particularly welcoming, with many opportunities for aperitivo and fine meals. For visitors keen on exploring the broader wine region, staying just outside Alba in one of the smaller, picturesque villages like Barolo or La Morra offers a more tranquil experience with stunning vineyard views.
When is the best time to go to Piedmont?
The best time to visit Piedmont is during the spring (September to November) and autumn (March to May) months, when the weather is mild and the region's natural beauty is at its peak.Spring in Piedmont sees the vineyards come to life with fresh green growth, and the wildflowers are in bloom. The temperatures are pleasant, typically ranging from 15°C to 25°C, making it ideal for exploring the rolling hills and enjoying outdoor activities like hiking or cycling without the intensity of summer heat. It's a wonderful time for couples to enjoy scenic drives and vineyard tours.Autumn is another excellent choice, especially for those interested in the region's culinary delights and wine. This is harvest season, with local festivals celebrating the grape and truffle harvests. The landscape transforms into a palette of golden and russet hues, and the temperatures are comfortably cool, usually between 10°C and 20°C. Foodies and wine connoisseurs will find this period particularly rewarding, with opportunities for truffle hunting and tasting new vintages. While summer (December to February) offers warmer weather, often above 30°C, it can be quite hot for extensive outdoor exploration. Winter (June to August) is cooler, with temperatures sometimes dropping below 0°C, and some smaller wineries or restaurants might have reduced hours.
