We all had a wonderful time. The service was great, the food was great, and the view and beach being 40 feet away was AWESOME! Bring your best cameras! Very nice cottages with beautiful mosquito netting covered beds, and open-air to the sky and stars, private showers. We loved it, and will return.

Great place to rest up.
It's been a while, since it has had a face lift, but its a comfortable and remote if you are looking for a retreat to spend time in resting. Far away from town and you will certainly need to rent a motor bike to get around.

Bamboo is such a unique and lovely resort. It's very rustic (no A/C) and has an outdoor bathroom so you will see plenty of lizards, etc. in your room but you get used to them. The food was delicious and some of my favorite food in Vietnam (I'm vegetarian so my options for the great street foods are more limited). The staff was very attentive and helpful and spoke really great English. I'd definitely stay again. It's a darling place in a quiet area of the island.

This place was great. The staff is so friendly and helpful with everything, the food is delicious, they have fun events like "family meal" that allow you to get to know other guests if you want. But it is isolated. That's what we wanted, and so we stayed for 4 days and enjoyed the beach, but we got a little restless after that time. It's pretty far from the central town. But beautiful and worth it if you're looking to just lie on the beach!

Very overrated and a bit overpriced
This is definitely not a 3 star hotel. I am not even sure it qualifies for 2 stars. There is no AC. They are "off the grid" relying on solar power. Electricity gets turned off around midnight until about 7 or 8 AM, making free WiFi non-working. The rooms are clean, but very poorly maintained. I made a picture of the bathroom to illustrate it. The buildings can be described as in decline. The motorbike I rented from the hotel was in as bad shape as the hotel. It did not start well, the headlight was dim, one of the breaks did not work. The best things about this hotel is location. It sits right on the beach in the area which did no see much development and very friendly manager. There are several similar size cottage type hotels close by, all having electricity from the grid, AC and 24 hr WiFi, all either less expensive or having the same price. After 3 days spent at Bamboo cottagesI moved to Wild Beach, only half a mile away.

Wonderful beach villa experience! Arriving to Bamboo Cottages after a couple of days in HCMC was arriving to a tranquille mini paradise. The cottage is clean, spacious and tastefully decorated. You’re literally staying on the beach with a view of the sea and the sound of the waves from your bed. The restaurant is delicious - had all meals on property! Friendly and helpful team. Bonus, the yoga classes with Lola were excellent! Awesome experience!

The place is amazing, great food, great rooms, great service. Note: there is no AC - be prepared. This is because it is an eco resort powered by solar. If you get cabin fever easily and don't like staying in same place then bear in mind that you won't be able to easily find shops or activities out of the resort without hiring a moped. Saying that the rest of the island that we saw was undergoing major construction and there was quite a lot of rubbish etc. Bamboo really is an oasis on the island, great for a few days of doing very little in beautiful surroundings

Eco hotel right on the beach
I highly recommend this hotel. I booked a standard cottage with garden view and it was about 20 seconds walk from a beautiful idyllic clean sandy beach. The cottage was fairly basic inside but extremely clean. The partially outdoor bathroom was a novelty. It’s quite basic but helps you to feel closer to nature and your surroundings. Staff are exceptional and the hotel restaurant offers delicious freshly prepared food at very affordable prices.

Bamboo cottages is like arriving at a family. You just can’t resist falling in love with the place. Free yoga, rum punch happy hour and opportunity to have family dinner. I will be coming back.

We stayed at Bamboo Cottages for our honeymoon for 10 nights. It was such a wonderful place with lovely staff, excellent food, beautiful rooms and great beach. We especially liked the yoga classes. Most definitely the best resort on the island.

Great Beachfront Cottage
I love the idea of staying in an ECO style resort but in reality, I want aircon in such a steamy place! The rooms were clean, neat + had everything but I just wanted them to channel their solar power into a ceiling fan. The beach is lovely, the restaurant and the food delicious, the staff were so sweet and accommodating and even when we checked out a few days early they continued to be great.

I cannot speak highly enough of the staff at Bamboo Cottages. They were so kind, friendly, helpful, and accommodating. That is really the most special aspect of this place — you feel a part of the family. There are even four dogs! The bungalows are beautiful and right on a quiet and remote beach, and the breakfast is so delicious. It's a wonderful place to be.

Wonderful peaceful getaway on the beach
I had a wonderful time traveling to and staying at Bamboo Cottages on my own. At Bamboo I met other travelers and we enjoyed dinner and kayaking together. The staff were friendly and kind. They upgraded my room for no charge because there was a nicer room that was available. The food was excellent and the facilities were clean. I really enjoyed the yoga classes (two in one day!), snorkeling and kayaking. It was a very wonderful place to stay for a quiet and peaceful weekend on a beautiful beach.

Amazing hidden gem.
Bamboo cottages is one of the most relaxing places I've ever stayed. My girlfriend and I both loved the total experience here. The location is excellent. It's remote but right on the beach. The staff where amazing. They weren't pushy with tours or constantly bugging us. They were just there when you needed them and quick to respond to any needs. It seems like they are a happy little family. The food was amazing for such a small resort. Wasn't disappointed with any meal. The ambiance is great being that you can have breakfast 10 feet from the ocean while watching the sun come up and they have an ice little lounge and bar area. We stayed at in the beach side cottage and loved being able to walk out the front door and literally step right into the ocean for a morning swim. Bamboo cottages was the highlight of our Vietnam trip.

Back To Nature - 'upmarket camping'
The Bamboo Cottage experience was interesting. Upon arrival you are greeted with a welcome drink of your choice whilst three different staff members introduce themselves and run through a few 'house rules'. The staff are pleasant and happy to mingle/chat or allow you your space to relax. We were told "the overall enjoyment of your stay here is down to you - we provide 50% and you must provide the other 50%" This probably is true - as once you 'settle in' to the cottage and you realise that there is no kettle, aircon or fridge in the room and the electric (it is solar powered) goes off around midnight, it is totally down to you to fend for yourself!? The food was delicious - no complaints (though maybe a little over priced for Vietnam, but still reasonable for the quality). The location was nice - the beach was literally on the doorstep of our cottage and you hear the sound of the sea as you sleep. The water was warm and clean. The sun was out too for us - so really this was what we came for : eat, relax, swim and sunbathe. A big tick there.

What a paradise!
What an amazing location! The hustle and bustle of the island I see muted here and one truely feels like there is paradise on earth. Great walks up the road and to "secret" beaches added to the allure. The staff is exemplary as is the service. Always a smiling face!

Relaxation
For a relaxing, unhurried, beautiful location, you can't beat Bamboo Cottages. The sandy beach is shaded by various tropical trees under which are plenty of sun beds and blissful hammocks. Good choice of breakfast options and a number of special events each week at dinner time, as well as complimentary drinks and snacks on several evenings. The view is wonderful, right down to the South of the island, and across the bay to a nearby tiny island to which you can kayak for snorkelling. Though Bamboo Cottages are a about 50 minutes from the airport, and in a fairly isolated area, that is part of the pleasure: there's little to distract from just enjoying the atmosphere, taking in the view, participating in the beach yoga and meditation sessions and catching up on snoozing. The staff are always pleasant and helpful: any concerns were addressed immediately. There's a Westerner employee who appears intermittently to sit and walk around a bit - not sure what his role is, but all the other staff try hard to make everything agreeable and easy.

Lovely beachfront resort. A few thing to keep in mind when looking to stay here: 1) Most reviews downplay the industrial loading port. It really does impact one's experience. It is a real eye sore, very loud and they operate at all hours. 2) Expedia lists the cottages as "Seaview" cottages, but they are really garden view, behind the beachfront cottages. We found this to be misleading. They are only technically sea view if you lean off your deck. Be sure to book beachfront. 3) Beds are super thin and firm. I would advise anyone with back issues to think twice.

Amazing and special resort in Phu Quoc
Beautiful place, pretty secluded on the island which gives you access to a beach where you're almost by yourself. The staff is helpful abd very friendly and the fact that they are 100% solar is an amazing bonus in my view. And as for the food, was a delight, many options for someone that doesn't eat meat, but almost everything on the menu was abseloutly delicious! Thanks so much for the amazing stay!

If you're considering Bamboo Cottages, there are many reasons to come here, but there are also BIG caveats. GOOD: Excellent service, very friendly staff, it feels like family. The private beach is very nice, and the resort provides free bike rental, kayaks, and wifi everywhere. Motorbike rental is available too, and the overall location is very quiet. You can kayak within 30 minutes to a secluded island nearby. CONS: Be aware that because this property uses solar power for everything, there is no A/C, power might cut out at night, and there may not be hot water on cloudy days. I found it difficult to sleep at night given lack of A/C, and the outdoor bathroom may not be for everyone. With the outdoor restroom and natural surroundings, there will also be insects and mosquitoes. Even given the cons (which I didn't read about carefully enough before booking), it was a very nice stay. They provided two fans to help cool the room.

Obnoxous noise from the port right next door.
We were here in July 2016. There was some misrepresentation from the hotel regarding the noise from a construction site. There is actually a port right next door to the hotel. The port is used for ships that delivering construction supply to the resorts that after being built in the area. It runs any hour of the day. It is an eye sore when we were sitting on the beach enjoying our meal. The hotel has a restaurant that serves decent food, but it was difficult to relax with all that noise going. It is nice to have a private beach, but the present of the port makes me question if it is wise to swim in the water with all that oil from the ships. The beach itself is rocky. One good thing is the hotel has kayak that you can borrow. for free that one can paddle away from the port. The room itself is alright. We had the beach front cottage, but even do it was very stuffy. There was no good sea breeze. There was another couple from our group who had the garden view cottage, and they days it was very hard to fall asleep due to the stuffiness of the room. The hotel is located very far from the main Street, and there is no taxi waiting in front of the entrance for a convenience ride. Guests have to request taxi 24 hours ahead. The staff there was AMAZING, which is the only redeeming part of our stay. I would not recommend this place for somone who is looking for a relaxing and peaceful stay.

Stayed here over weekend. Great little relaxing spot. Great location. Good food. Great staff. Clean rooms. Get a place on the ocean side you will get more breeze to keep cool. Wonderful little spot to relax and enjoy.

Perfect place to relax and explore.
We were made so welcome here. The owners obviously enjoy their work and aim to please. Food was a delight and the service overall was second to none I have received, absolutely 5 stars! Loved the twice daily free yoga and the free kayaks to fingernail island where we snorkelled and saw a variety of colourful fish.

Charles and staff were great and responsive to our needs. Beach location was nice, but no fault of theirs - Phu Quoc is about to explode and a pier to offload supplies has been built nearby and can be noisy. Food was great and the staff very friendly.

Truly a beautiful place! Right by the beach and you go to sleep hearing the waves. Lovely staff and everything is well thought of and Eccofriendly, water in glass bottles and they use solar panels. The room is wonderful and you feel like home,or how you would like to have it at home...I would go back any time....

Definitely 5stars experience! Do not expect 5* hotel with ac and carpets. That is not what it is here about. We had wonderul time with lot of privacy, fun, in romantic cottages located right on wonderful small clean beach. Great food! And puppies :)

Helt magiskt Resort
Att bo på Bamboo Cottage är så nära man kan bo på Paradiset på Jorden. Vi bodde själv i en stuga med utsikt mot havet. Där vi hade max 10 meter till havet. Vi vaknade och somnade till ljudet av vågorna. Vi tillbringade hela dagarna i havet, i hängmattan/solstolarna som låg i skuggan av ett stort träd, eller satt på vår lilla veranda och bara njöt av ljudet av vågorna, nuet och livet. Våra 2 dagar på Bamboo Cottage var helt magiskt och vi ångrade så mycket att vi inte la fler nätter här. Dessutom var det absoluta toppklass på personalen och servicen. Även maten på restaurangen var mycket bra, med bord/stolar på stranden bara någon meter från havet. Som gäst fick man även låna en kajak, snorkel utrustning och cykel helt gratis. Är man morgonpigg så erbjuds även yoga varje morgon utan kostnad. Den enda nackdelen med stället är att de inte har någon aircondition. I stället har de 2 fläktar i rummen som bara är på fram till midnatt då de stänger av strömmen. Så det kan blir otroligt varmt under natten.
