"The hotel is very remote so we ate at the hotel restaurant. The menu was not vast but offered enough variety to cater for most. There is a huge hotel bar and hotel reception which offers plenty of seating. Rooms are fairly basic but sufficient for an overnight stay Would use again if in the area Pretty stream and waterfall immediately outside reception."

"Reception staff were very helpful with everything including the parking which was limited. For an old Hotel the room etc was very good. Unfortunately the lift was out of order but these things happen so not a big problem. We had drinks in the bar and ate there the first night. On both nights in the bar we unfortunately did find one of the female staff members not at all happy to see us and it felt like she just didn't want to be there. Wasn't comfortable!"

"Beautiful property and unique experience staying in the castle. The staff were very friendly and welcoming - they looked after us very well. Beware some of the castle rooms require you to go up a spiral staircase which is a bit of a climb with a suitcase. The staff very helpful and will help with luggage tho. Evening meal was adequate only as there was limited options which interested us. However breakfast was amazing cooked to order and great variety to suit all diets. Do go on their history tour of the castle gives an opportunity to go up onto the roof and see the chapel"

"I have used this hotel four times this last year as a stopover for trips from south Devon to Scotland and overall have been pleased with the facilities and service provided. Meals have been excellent and the rooms comfortable and clean. My only concern has been with the service in the dining room: the staff are all delightfully friendly and welcoming but on each of my visits service has been very slow - it took 40 minutes last night for drinks we’d ordered to arrive and our meals a further 10. We weren’t the only ones waiting far too long. I’m sure some training or perhaps a shake up of procedures in the kitchen itself might help. Having driven over 350 miles yesterday I didn’t appreciate being kept waiting so long for my dinner! "
