  • This is a great place to visit in the North of England. It’s like stepping back in time to visit a town, farm, colliery village and old hall and getting to experience what it was like to live in those places from about 1910 onwards. There are staff who take on the roles of various locals that really bring this place to life. This picture is from the town where you can explore a bank, shops, pub, dentists and lots of other things as well as ride in traditional vehicles of the time. Such a brilliant experience.

Clean if basic room. Only 1 pack of biscuits with the tea/coffee, no hairdryer in the room and very thin towels. Room was otherwise comfortable. Dining was excellent with fabulous food and extremely good staff who were attentive without being intrusive. Great location for the Metro Centre.

Great retreat - keep it a secret!

Gorgeous place, full of character and warm of welcome. Great atmosphere and staff obviously love what they do and are always watchful and ensure that you have a special time. Rooms are generous size and fitted and furnished to high quality. Very clean and tidy. Did-friendly was a great bonus for us. Then… the food is off the scale amazingly good. Definitely will return.

Lovely staff, room was good size and warm too, bed very comfortable, had a great sleep! Good choice at breakfast and the full english was fresh and of good quality. Would definitely recommend to anyone and stay here again ourselves..

Great welcome and service from friendly staff. Nice restaurant/bar area with great food and drink options. 1 night stay after return flight, lovely dinner and excellent breakfast. What a great place , everyone was fantastic and the guys and girls all bend over backwards for you. Definitely not our last stay there. Food is amazing and drinks are reasonable prices .
