"The shower pod is literally in the room you sleep in at the bottom of the bed. I had no idea this was the case when booking as I’ve never known anything like it! There is zero privacy! The reception staff aren’t very friendly and the service overall is just lacking what you would normally expect from a 4 star hotel. I wouldn’t recommend this place nor would I stay here again! "Everything was great with the staff the cleanliness and the hotel. A few of the down sides, when we got there we got a city tax, it caught me by surprise. It probably says it somewhere in the documentation, but maybe as a UX they should let you know a bit more proactively. Also there is a construction next to the hotel as the writing of this review and they started to work at 7 am. "

" I stayed at the Van der Valk Hotel and was genuinely impressed. This is a beautiful, modern hotel in a fantastic location—just a short 2-minute walk to the metro and less than 15 minutes into central Amsterdam. It’s the ideal balance of convenience and calm. The staff were welcoming and helpful throughout my stay. My room was spacious, spotless, and stylishly designed, with all the modern comforts you’d hope for. The on-site spa and gym were excellent additions, perfect for unwinding or keeping up with a fitness routine. Honestly, I can’t see why anyone would leave a negative review. Everything exceeded expectations, and I’ll definitely be staying here again the next time I visit Amsterdam. Highly recommended! "

Wonderful stay

"Couple stay. We stayed in the loft room and we would 100% come back. We already are looking to return to the hotel for our next trip to Amsterdam. We are from London and wanted a nice hotel to stay in whilst we visit Amsterdam. LOCATION IS FANTASTIC FOR METRO. The metro is a 2 minute walk (the side of the hotel is literally on the same road as the metro), the metro has 3 lines straight into central station, taking 10-15 mins max. I love the style of the lifts as it is technical and the lifts come based on where they are in the building- you mainly get a private lift every time. The bed was so comfortable and it was nice to have a kettle in the room as I can see from the reviews the hotel has clearly listened to feedback. My one feedback for the hotel would be to move the desk, although it is self check in, you do need help from a member of staff so I would make this more out of the way say around the corner by the breakfast bit, as getting to the lifts can be a bit busy walking around others (genuinely not a problem- it is just a suggestion to make the floor space more free.) the space in the loft room was wonderful and my partner was a global traveller for his work and has stayed in many hotels, however he even said the layout of the loft room was really impressive with the open plan bathroom, and toilet separate. "

"The hotel is right next to a metro stop. It is very easy to travel to downtown Amsterdam and the airport. The breakfast was excellent. The hotel is very modern and well maintained. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful."
