"This was our first stop of our trip and Portsmouth is such a cute little New England town. Hotel Thaxer was a perfect palce to stay. Right near downtown and very walkable to local shops, resturants, and emtertainment. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was updated and very comfortable. Highly recommend."
"The room was just perfect. We had the petite queen and it had everything in it that we could want or need for our two night stay. I had no trouble checking in. If I needed to call and ask a question there was always someone available by phone. The ability to park right opposite was super. The area is so pretty and right on the water. The only thing to mention but it did not bother us was the heaviness of the doors when they opened or shut and the thin walls. However, during the night we heard nothing and that's all we cared about. Will definitely stay again!"
"The absolute best location in Portsmouth! Convenient to all the shops and dining and with a beautiful view of the bay. Bedrooms were very nice with comfortable beds & bedding. My only downside is the main living room area is a bit tight for a family of four. One couch that could comfortably seat three people and no dining table to sit and play a game of cards or board game - we used the coffee table with my teenage girls sitting on the floor - it worked, but it certainly was a compromise. Other than that - it's amazing! Would definitely stay there again!"
