We traveled with our service animal, Summer, and there were goats next door as neighbors who were very friendly. She loved making new friends and our group of 4 loved how quiet the home was. "My partner and I absolutely loved everything about the Mahina Cottage! Shems was great in answering any questions we had prior to our trip. Upon arrival the cottage was so welcoming! Such great thoughtful touches really made us feel welcomed. During our stay Shems kept in touch, making sure we were doing ok , which was very comforting considering we were there during a storm. Honestly, we couldn't have been anywhere better to wait out the rain and wind. What a magical place!! We are definitely looking forward to our next visit!! Thank you so much Shems and Achintya!!!"

"We’ve been going to BnBs since the 80s; Lori was an amazing hostess. The pantry is stocked for more than breakfast, need a snack, cheese and crackers, some thing to drink? It’s there! Want slippers? Ck the bathroom, want beach towels, boogie board — it’s there. The patio is private and peaceful with great grill set-up. Lori provides full service. If you are looking for someplace away from the crowds, near Haleakala, or away from the crowds this is great choice. "

"The views are indeed breathtaking. It was incredible to lay in bed and watch the panoramic view of Maui at sunset. It's a lovely place. We enjoyed just hanging out there and watching the birds (we were well supplied with bird seed for the feeder). We did some cooking and found the kitchen to have very nice tools and appliances. Even tiki mugs! We got to visit with Dawn in person and meet the cats. She was very kind and shared lots of good information. She even gave us a book! I would definitely recommend. Please note that it may not be the best place for someone who is clumsy, there is a step down in the bathroom. "

"We had a very nice stay. The pool area was comfortable and a fantastic place to end each day watching the sunset. The location is perfect and just minutes away from several beaches as well as everything in the Wailea/Kihei area. We loved using the outdoor shower. Unfortunately we didn't use the pool due to the cool water temp combined with the relatively cool weather we had while visiting (mainly in the mornings and evenings). I'm sure it's great to cool off in when it's really warm, but our personal preference is a heated pool. The King size bed was comfortable and kitchen/living room had everything we needed. As far as privacy I'd say it's about 80% there. I don't mean that to sound overly critical, it's just that you are sharing a house with the host (Teri) when you stay there (and that should be of no surprise to anyone as it's stated in VRBO). She respects your privacy to be sure, but there is just a wall, door or sliding glass door separating you so you will hear each other just as you would when staying at anyone's house. I still think it's worthy of 5 stars though, just for the relaxing nature of the back yard and pool area alone and Teri has everything there that you need for an enjoyable stay on the island. We will miss the sunsets for sure."

"The place was a great stay for going up to the national park. They also had quite a nice gesture of providing snacks, fruit, and bread which came in handy with our hikes up on the mountain. We definitely would stay again!"

Wonderful location for exploring the entire island. Private, quiet and relaxing complete with sound of waterfall and lush gardens. Can’t wait till next time!"
