This picturesque lakeside park provides a beautiful backdrop to an afternoon stroll, but most people visit to see the interactive 3-D laser show and a musical water feature or to motorboat on the lake. Lumbini Park occupies 3 hectares (7.5 acres) on the banks of Hussain Sagar lake. It is an ideal area for a relaxing picnic or an interactive educational experience.

Wander along the many trails that lead through the park to immerse yourself in Hyderabad’s blissful atmosphere. Lumbini Park is among the most popular in the city and on weekends you can watch whole families playing games on the grass. Children will love splashing in the wave pool or going for a ride on the miniature train.

Join 2,000 eager onlookers in watching the action-packed laser show that outlines the history of Hyderabad. The daily show creates a 3-D tour of the city.

Bring a picnic to eat as you sit by the lake or pick up cold drinks and snacks from one of the many cafés in the park. Board a ferry to cross the lake and see the statue of Buddha that resides at its centre. Speedboats can also be chartered and are a thrilling way to explore the lake.

Watch as the sun sets over Hussain Sagar before crossing the park to the musical fountain. Watch as synchronised lights, shooting water and a musical soundtrack brighten up the evening sky. Many of the songs featured are from popular Hindi and Telugu films.

Visit the 17.5-metre (57-foot) tall statue of Buddha at the park’s centre before you leave. Drenched in artificial light after dark the statue makes for a great photograph, while a functioning clock made from flowers will help you make it to your bus on time.

Lumbini Park is located on the southern bank of Hussain Sagar in central Hyderabad. The park is closed Mondays and an admission fee applies. There are a number of bus and train stations within walking distance of the park.
