Great stay and easy check in process. The bed was comfortable. The neighborhood was better than expected less homeless than what usually ito in that area. The restaurant and cafe are really good too

Really clean, Japanese minimalist hotel room with a totally open shower, nice little coffee concept & Japanese restaurant on the main floor. Close to cool bars & fancy restaurants.
Only feedback would be to add a shelf / drawer of some sort for those of us who like to unpack the suitcase.
We reached out to the hotel staff for two of the main overhead lights that weren’t working.
We were promised that staff would come up and look into the lights, but we never got another update.
The room is unique and comfortable, however the supporting staff did not fulfill their promises.
The property is designed tastefully. It blends in its neighbourhood nicely while existing uniquely with its Japanese and European inspired interior design. The rooms offers various type of space for its customers to emerge in. Its Minimalist styled room grant its customers an oasis in the busy urban. The dinning options inside and around the building matches its energy, all in walkable distance. Parking is easy to find and close to the property. The check in progress is clear, efficient and provides thoughtful privacy respect
This hotel is stunning. The check-in process is easily explained with a text, and the code to get in is pretty cool. The lack of staff to check you in lends itself to the peacefulness of the hotel. The design of the room I was able to stay in was incredible.
A quiet, cool part of DTLA attached to a great bar/resto and near some of LAs best restos, pizza and dive bars. My room was GORGEOUS. Bed super comfortable, loved the open shower, windows, and open concept in general. Plush towels and yummy toiletries, too. Will for sure be back.
The room was great, location was central to what I needed but finding the hotel from the parking area was slightly confusing as was check out. There are no physical instructions for anything so it’s slightly annoying. Now that I have done it, everything is crystal clear.
Beautiful, unique room. But several things did not work properly like TV remotes and the steamer but there is no staff to get any help at all. You are completely on your own for any issues.
Stayed in room 6. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. There isn’t a lot of air flow in there so it does get a little stale and there’s a bit of a smell at times - but that’s just LA in general I guess (or the gross people who got kicked out across from us). But it’s a super cool room with a great vibe. Decent amount of places to eat in walking distance too. Pretty quiet during the night. The parking isn’t too bad. $50 and a lot in the back with assigned spots. Only downside is there’s no front desk or management or any employees on site, so if anything happens, it’s all over the phone. But I would stay here again.
My stay at Hotel Kodo was initially marred by a leaking shower in our room upon check-in. However, the hotel staff, especially the manager, went above and beyond to rectify the situation. Despite not having alternative rooms available, they promptly fixed the leak while we dined at the hotel restaurant. Additionally, the manager graciously provided complimentary items from our meal. To top it off, the following day, we were upgraded to a larger room to compensate for the inconvenience. I commend the manager for their exceptional handling of the situation, turning what could have been a negative experience into a very positive one.
It’s a very aesthetically pleasing hotel to stay in. It was clean except there were stain in one of the sofas as well as some hairs. If you are traveling with your family, it is not ideal as there’s no door for private shower. There’s no elevator so if you are coming with luggages, be prepared. There’s no front desk but they do respond to your phone calls and texts pretty promptly. I had requested for 3 guests- no extra blankets for the 3rd person. If you want early check in (1 pm instead of 4 pm), it is $60 upon checking in. If you don’t want to street park and want to use their parking lot, it is $50/day. Also there’s no direct ways to get to the hotel for the parking lot. You have to either go around the building to front or through their cafe/restaurant to go upstairs. If you are okay with extra fees as well as some inconvenience and looking for aesthetically pleasing space- do book.
kodō hotel is nestled perfectly in the Arts District close enough to just about everything you'd want to see in the area.
Everything is either a short drive or a mural filled brisk walk away. Parking in back is convenient and you'll find the booking & check in process is simple and seamless.
I stayed in Room 4 (Sora - Sky) which was clean, spacious, and flawlessly designed.
I entered feeling truly inspired and calm. The aesthetic creates a spa like atmosphere which makes it impossible to not relax. The mattress is incredibly comfortable and the bathroom area and open shower are beautiful with perfect water temperature and pressure, again creating a spa like experience. My only gripe for the room was the TV set up.
The size and picture quality were fantastic,
My gripe pertains to availability of content.
A DirectTV set up is what's being utilized with access to Netflix but no ability for many other apps like YouTube or Spotify.
I'm sure most wouldn't be bothered but it's something to note so your aware. Beyond that I couldn't recommend this hotel enough and I look forward to a reason to stay here again and experience 1 of the other unique rooms.
It’s in a very unsafe area there was literally someone infront of the hotel doing drugs please know the inside is nice but it’s not worth being in an unsafe environment.
It was very quiet and the ambiance was peaceful for a solo getaway. I do wish the property had more security as non guests can easily access the “lobby”.
Artistic spaces and a lovely vibe. The restaurant wasn’t open when I stayed and I wish I had known guests cannot make use of outside spaces during the stay.
