Second time staying at The Duke’s Head and this stay did not disappoint, although very busy was quiet and no noise could be heard from the packed bar. Staff always friendly and room clean and very comfortable bed. As this is close to family will definitely stay again.
Great weekend getaway when we visit family for our annual early Christmas celebrations.
We love our weekend away in our very comfortable quiet bedroom, with a great shower room - all exceptionally clean - and fabulous breakfast.
They love coming around to the pub for an early Christmas lunch with us.
Food is always great - last year we had the Christmas menu, this year with the kids a bit older, Saturday ‘specials’ were ordered.
Don’t change a thing … we love it 😊
I booked this for my parents. I live nearby. They said staff were helpful and their room was comfortable. I came over for breakfast which was really nice. They will likely stay again.
Positives. We were allowed to check in more than an hour early. The room was clean and spacious. Nice big comfortable bed. The bathroom was clean with a great shower plenty of towels and toiletries.
Negatives. The room was dimly lite, the television remote was missing also the noise from emergency vehicles and traffic prevented me from sleeping. I think I possibly managed 4 hours sleep at the most.
Breakfast was disappointing eggs were overcooked, and other breakfast componants positively average. Tea ok but coffee not very nice.
On a whole our room was clean, fresh and very comfortable for our needs. However the wet /bathroom basin was too small and the shower needs a door or curtain as all the floor gets soaking wet. All the staff were excellent, friendly, helpful and very accommodating. Would recommend staying here as convenient in all areas.
Lovely one night stay. Check in was easy and staff were welcoming and friendly. Room was lovely with a comfortable super king size bed. Only slight issue was the room felt cold and the air conditioning unit didn’t seem to want to generate heat. Lovely wool throw blankets on the beds kept us warm though.
Restaurant was lovely and staff were friendly and attentive. Food was delicious and served very hot. Staff made sure the food was ok for us and kept our drinks refreshed.
Breakfast was excellent with a good variety of self service continental options as well as a menu for a selection of hot breakfasts. Staff again were super helpful and friendly.
Overall a lovely one night stay and we will definitely be back.
The music is too loud and too early in some rooms.
The Hotel, Food and service were very good. However the management must be aware of the volume of their music in some of their accommodation rooms. To be woken at 06.15am by music was not ideal. The music also plays later into the evening. Room 292 and 201 were both affected.
I'm so used to staying in corporate chain hotels, but my usual was fully booked so I went with The Dukes Head Hotel and was so pleasantly surprised that I am even leaving a review which is something I never do. The staff are sweet, the cleanliness of the room is spot on, and the breakfasts are just incredible! Little homely touches like a fancier coffee machine in your room (compared with a nespresso or even a kettle), the fact they have oat milk in sachets with great taste award tea bags, and the nice cosmetics too make it a really cosy and pleasant experience. Oh and also they have a large glass bottle of water in the room with cups - such a simple addition but I know I've woken up in the night so many times at other hotels gasping so this was just the cherry on the cake for me - loved it and will be coming back again.
Wonderful hotel; excellent atmosphere. Homely rooms; very comfortable. If I was going to make any kind of criticism, it would be a tiny one & it's something I've found at many hotels - the duvet covers are often larger than the duvets, so when the duvet is laid on the bed there is an untidy gathering & creasing of the underside of the duvet cover. It's particularly uncomfortable & irritating when you get into bed & stretch your legs out. Many times I've stripped the duvet off, straightened the cover then re-made the bed. Obviously, much of this may be down to my petty OCD!
Everything else - food, drink, service, etc. - 5 stars! Special mention to the cosy individual huts in the garden.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
The room was good, all t.v channels did not work. Eggs royal was poor as eggs over cooked and hollandaise sauce was tempid.
