My room was clean, quiet, comfortable, and had great views. If you’re looking for a large, chain hotel this might not be for you but if you like older buildings and charming spaces this one delivers. I booked a second night and have a different room—multi level and also cozy and charming. The hotel staff is professional and very kind.

Lovely hotel

Lovely hotel with welcoming and helpful staff. We were greeted by Ernest Knox on arrival and all the staff were very attentive throughout our stay. Great location with access to DLR and the underground within a short walk. Delicious food and drinks in the restaurant.

The hotel was impossible to get hold of before our stay, as we wanted to ask about the possibility of an early check in. We emailed and phoned several times but had no response. When we got there we were told they don’t offer early check-in anymore (even though the room welcome leaflet references it) so we had to get ready for a wedding we were going to in the spa changing rooms! Club room was ok but could do with a bit more space and a few more conveniences on each level, like bins etc. We stayed for two nights and would have appreciated some replenished refreshments (drinks, biscuits, cups etc) on the second day. That said, staff were very friendly and the hotel was clean and in a great location for Poplar station (5 min walk) meaning everywhere was easily reachable.

Great!

The service at the front desk was great. The restaurant in the basement is amazing. A room was a little bit cramped 42 people and the bathroom was a bit awkward, it didn't have enough shelving. Overall excellent hotel and very nice location.
