we are so disappointed with this property. we spent quite a lot on our stay at this DoubleTree, thinking we were splurging on a nice hotel for our once-in-a-lifetime trip to London. instead, this is a poorly run hotel, with half the staff needed for the "4 stars" the property claims. the lobby may look nice, but once you are allowed to go to your room, the nightmare begins. the hallways are dark and dank. we stayed in two types of rooms (which were non-refundable purchases, which is why we didn't transfer hotels), a standard and a suite. the standard was run-down, but at least had a window that opened. the suite, while nicer and newer, had zero ventilation and was quite hot, while temperatures outside were warm, but not exceedingly so. when we complained, a completely useless portable air conditioner was brought, and then another, which just moved the hot air around. our room wasn't serviced until asked several times. the location in South Kensington (across from a tube station) is the only plus of this hotel. and the staff who were there did try, but they were so clearly overwhelmed, particularly in the restaurant. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone until they put considerable money into the rooms and appropriate staffing is put into place. until then, it is not worth the high prices they charge. stay somewhere else!
