The Tower Hotel, by Thistle

8/10 Good

"The location and view of the Bridge is what keeps us coming back. We were dissappointed the Front Desk Staff did not mention the construction when we checked in. We saw the posting in the elevator going to our room. It was not ideal to be faced with the sounds of construction starting at 9am throughout the whole day. Hd we known we wold have explained out situation and maybe been able to relocte to a quieter room."

Royal National Hotel

8/10 Good

"I stayed at The Royal National Hotel for one night on Wednesday 7 October. For the price I paid (£120 for the room, although breakfast was an additional £30 (what?!), bringing the total to £150), I can’t really complain. The room was a double overlooking the forecourt. Surprisingly, noise was minimal, although I can imagine it gets considerably noisier at weekends. The en-suite was perfectly adequate, too. My only gripes were the rather weak shower pressure and the fact that the water never quite reached a temperature I would have liked. What really let the stay down, however, was the breakfast offering. The whole operation could best be described as school dinners. Guests have to queue to be seated, with staff chaperoning people around the breakfast room. In all honesty, I’ve never experienced anything quite like it in a hotel. The room itself was noisy, and there was yet another queue for the breakfast buffet. I found the whole experience rather off-putting, so I decided not to bother with breakfast and instead stave off the hunger until lunchtime. Overall, I’d describe my stay as very Travelodge-esque. For the price, you can’t complain too much, but I would certainly have preferred the more relaxed ambience of a Premier Inn! Just don’t pay the extra THRITY QUID for breakfast and instead spend that money in a more relaxing cafe nearby."

St. James' Court, A Taj Hotel, London

10/10 Excellent

"All the staff was very friendly and helpful throughout our entire stay. The room was very nice and well appointed. We would definitely stay here again. I would say the only downside was the lack of closet space for hanging clothes and lacked any storage space in the bathroom. We had to get inventive."

Zedwell Piccadilly Circus

8/10 Good

"Great shower! Beauty rooms were a bust. Overall, noisier--maybe they were herding elephants above us? But also some rumbles were surely the subway beneath-- than we had hoped, and dimmer--too dimly lit-- in common spaces. The room was sufficient, except only bring your closest confidants, the bathroom has ZERO privacy! The beds were comfortable. Price was right for us, if you don't mind the chaos of Picadilly Circus, you can spend your savings on £5 cans of Coke..."

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to go to Lime Street?

The best time to visit Lime Street is generally during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months, when the weather is mild and the city is less crowded.

For those planning to explore the city's main attractions and enjoy comfortable walking conditions, late spring offers pleasant temperatures and longer daylight hours. There are often outdoor events and festivals taking place, adding to the city's appeal. This period is particularly good for couples looking to enjoy leisurely strolls and al fresco dining.

If you're interested in cultural events and a slightly cooler, yet still agreeable climate, early autumn is an excellent choice. The summer crowds have thinned, and the city's theatres and galleries are in full swing. This time of year suits solo travellers who appreciate exploring at a relaxed pace and taking in the local arts scene.
