"We thought the place had just opened but it has been open for 7+ years. This hotel is very clean and well maintained. The check in and housekeeping staff were excellent and the breakfast was good. Limited selection but good food. The location is quiet and peaceful yet close to Nanaimo. Highly recommended."

"It was nice that the VIU left a coffee pod and disposable coffee cup. It was quiet and clean. The only thing I didnt like was the mattress on the bed...Maybe I am used to mine at home. I didnt find it comfortable for a old body."

"We simply love the Dorchester hotel and have been staying here for many years. It is close to everything, nice restaurants, the waterfront, shops etc. The staff is super helpful, the room was very clean and the Top Notch restaurant is very good! We had the best chicken burger there and the service was amazing. This hotel has atmosphere. The view on the harbour side is so lovely. You do have to be aware that float planes take off from the harbor so that side of the hotel can mean an earlier wake up if you don't sleep soundly however the night is fine. They also have free parking which is great! Highly recommend the Dorchester!"
