Stayed at Ben’s guesthouse for 3 days and two night. The washer and dryer was a really good addition, the space was clean and it was nice to have amenities like the kitchen. It was fairly a decent size for three people but the only struggle was the four flight of stairs but besides that I had a wonderful stay!

My son and I stayed at Ben's Guesthouse for four nights in September 2026. Our room was clean and plenty spacious. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was clean and totally functional, nice shower/bath. The air conditioning was comfortable and reliable. There is a strict no-shoes policy which is enforced by placing your footwear in designated slots before you enter beyond the office area. It's easy to adjust to this policy, and it translates into very clean floors throughout. Ben's is in a quiet and clean neighborhood, and particularly quiet at night, as all the stores on that particular street close early. There is still plenty going on at all hours within walking distance. We felt really lucky to have discovered Ben's Guesthouse. If I ever return to Kyoto, that's where I'll stay, beyond a doubt.

Great location. Very flexible check in options. We arrived after 6pm and the hotel staff gave us instructions on self check in. It is excellent value for the cost versus what you get. It’s very good. Great luggage forwarding option.

It was incredibly convenient and comfortable to basically have my own apartment in a cozy neighborhood in north Kyoto, just a few miles from downtown and the main transit station. The amenities were more than adequate, and check-in and check-out were very easy. It was a joy to spend eleven nights there. Thank you, Ben!

Another good stay. Good basic and clean accommodation, being winter I did find it rather cold this time and could have done with another or thicker duvet but the accommodation itself lacks nothing, well positioned in a nice suburban area of Kyoto close to transport, and it's own shrines and onsens.

My family of 8 had an excellent stay for 3 nights about 2 weeks back. We stayed on the 4th floor in 2 rooms. No elevator was an issue when moving luggage but the stairs were easy to climb, rooms were spacious and everything was clean. All amenities were excellent. The washer was helpful and the shower as a drying room worked awesome. The bus stops were close bus was frequent. Loved Kyoto and Ben's guesthouse!

During my trip to Japan I stayed in 12 different places and Ben's guesthouse was the most convenient and comfortable. The little kitchen, bathroom, and in-room washing machine made me feel at home.
