"Really good hotel. It’s a boutique and therefore you are treated especially well by the staff and family who own the hotel. The location is by the coast with 5min walk to a lovely beach area. Breakfast is good and the gym is ideal. The massage chairs are a great touch and very useful. The rooms are very good size with kitchen and with lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance. A very good and calm place to stay and Heraklion is very nearby."

Village Heights Resort

10/10 Excellent

"We loved our stay! The staff were friendly and there was always something to do. The pool was great, parking, food, the rooms. My daughter cried when we left."

GDM Megaron Historical Monument Hotel

8/10 Good

"We had a very enjoyable stay at the GDM Megaron. Our junior suite, with its balcony overlooking the harbour, was a real highlight and offered beautiful views. The only minor drawback was the lack of a table and chairs on the balcony, which would have made it easier to sit and enjoy the view for longer. Breakfast offered an impressive variety of choices, while dinner was beautifully prepared. The menu was somewhat limited, but this was only a minor inconvenience, especially as the hotel’s central location meant that plenty of restaurants were within easy walking distance. We therefore enjoyed dining out on most evenings. The staff were consistently friendly and attentive, making us feel genuinely welcome throughout our stay. The rooftop pool was another pleasant feature, although its small size meant it could feel a little limited when several guests were using it. Overall, the GDM Megaron is a stylish hotel in an excellent location, with wonderful staff, comfortable accommodation and a lovely atmosphere. Despite the limited dinner menu and small rooftop pool, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend it to anyone visiting Heraklion."

Enorme Infinity Beach ex Infinity Blue

10/10 Excellent

"The staff were amazing, front desk very helpful and available 24 hours a day. The rooms are pretty basic, but have everything you need. One of my bath towels was dirty at arrival but was switched out quickly by the staff. The food buffet is good, lot of variety however the seating in the dining area is partially inside and out. If the weather is poor and outdoor seating isn't open then finding somewhere to sit can be frustrating."

Ethereal White Resort Hotel & Spa - Adults Only

10/10 Excellent

"The staff was so incredibly welcoming and helpful during our entire stay. We had an early flight prior to the breakfast hours the following morning, however the staff kindly offered to provide a boxed meal for us to take to the airport. It included a apple, banana, a few different pastries, along with bottles of water and juice. The room was amazing! We needed a quality bed and pillows after our previous locations stay and this room hit the spot! The bed was so comfortable and the pillows were awesome! They even had a pillow menu if the pillows didn't meet your needs. My wife and I will certainly come back in the future as the amazing experience we had! Great location too for going to the local shops and restaurants."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Koxari?

The best area to stay in Koxari is along the main coastal road, particularly around the village centre.

This area offers direct access to the beach and the main amenities of Koxari. You'll find a selection of tavernas, cafes, and local shops conveniently located along this stretch, making it easy to stroll to dinner or pick up essentials. The village itself is fairly compact, so everything is within easy reach.

Couples looking for a relaxing beach holiday will find this area ideal. Hotels here often boast sea views and are just steps away from the water, superb for tranquil mornings and evenings.

When is the best time to go to Koxari?

The best time to go to Koxari, Crete, is from late April to early June and again from September to October. These periods offer pleasant weather, ideal for exploring the island without the intense heat and larger crowds of the peak summer months.

During late April and May, the landscape is particularly lush, and wildflowers are in bloom. The temperatures are comfortably warm, typically ranging from 20-25°C, making it great for outdoor activities like hiking or visiting archaeological sites. The sea is also warm enough for swimming, and you'll find that popular attractions are less crowded, allowing for a more relaxed experience. This is an excellent time for couples looking for a romantic escape or those who enjoy nature and photography.

September and October offer similar advantages, with warm sea temperatures still ideal for swimming and temperatures hovering around 25-30°C. The autumn light is beautiful, and the grape harvest often takes place during this time, offering opportunities to experience local traditions. Many travellers find this period ideal for a relaxed holiday, enjoying the beaches and local tavernas without the summer rush.
