Kwun Tong Travel Guide

Tourist Guide

A modern building with red and green lighting, surrounded by a cityscape with tall buildings.
A flower shop with a sign reading "Blossom Minds" in an urban setting.
A ceiling with colorful string lights.
A nighttime city street with a moving train, tall buildings, and graffiti on a pole.
A cozy bar with wooden furniture and a neon sign.

Rising from the shadow of the verdant mountains framing Hong Kong are this neighbourhood’s skyscrapers, where malls, galleries and hip bars flourish.

Kwun Tong is a modern and lively district known for its large shopping centres, quirky cafés and commercial avenues. Its many skyscrapers are evidence of a sudden eruption of property development in an area backed by the green mountains beyond. Amble along the waterfront to see experimental art installations and take in the stunning views of Hong Kong Island.

Browse the gems and pearls on display in the jewellery shops on iconic Mut Wah Street, sometimes called Golden Street. Enter one of the large shopping paradises, such as the Camel Paint Building, which has a great range of restaurants and stores. Admire the architectural layout of the modern streets, revitalized following a heavy industrial era. Today, the buildings are made with carbon neutrality in mind.

In the heart of the district, try beer at the Moonzen Brewery. Learn the story behind the company and enter the taproom, which is decorated with traditional drawings.

Head south to the Lei Yue Mun area in the evening and dine on seafood specialties at one of the many traditional restaurants. At night, the district comes alive with bars and nightclubs.

Continue the fun in the afternoon at the Alpha Soccer Stadium, where you can play sports with an inflatable suit, try balloon basketball and get your limbo going. Learn to ride a hoverboard in the Azzita Hoverland play area.

Get in touch with the area’s natural beginnings by ascending the adjacent hill of Devil’s Peak. Here, look for the remains of a 19th-century military fortification. Appreciate the stunning vistas of the harbour and the city from this vantage point.

Find the district in the southeastern part of the Kowloon Peninsula. It overlooks Kowloon Bay and connects to Hong Kong Island via a long tunnel. While you’re in the area, explore the surrounding neighbourhoods of Kowloon City and Yau Tong.

Bohemian cafés, quirky breweries and historic remains are among the treasures amid the towers of Kwun Tong.
