Unfortunately, we visited the Mantra Hindmarsh Square at a bad time, with COVID cases rapidly escalating, I got the feeling the hotel was operating on a much-reduced budget compared to previous years. I purchased a package that stated the room would be serviced daily, but upon check-in I was advised there would be a service on Day 5 only. When the day came around, no one had come by after lunch and I followed up with reception. Although the very friendly desk staff member didn't say anything, it was obvious no service had been scheduled, but she cheerfully organised it for me.
The other issue was that the previously excellent in-house restaurant was closed and was only offering a rudimentary ‘breakfast on the run’, which given the number of other restaurants in the Adelaide CBD that were also closed, left few options for breakfast in particular.
The final issue was that our two-bedroom apartment had only a very small kitchen area with limited bench space, little crockery and a small fridge.
On the plus side, the staff were uniformly friendly and helpful, with a special mention to the friendly maintenance staff, one of which readily unlocked the goods lift whenever he was around so we could take our bicycles up and down; and the other very friendly staff member who repaired a running tap in our bathroom.
Thanks for a stay that was overall very good, and I look forward to returning when times are better and some of the excellent facilities are hopefully in operation.
