Wonderful little hideaway nestled among the forest with spectacular views of the mountains! If you want remote / away from the touristy parts of Kauai, this is a great option.

Relaxing In paradise

If you want to get away and experience a real tropical paradise, rent this place. The Hot tub and cool off pool were awesome and with close proximity to Hanalei to get provisions or go out for a meal.

Paradise

Easily the best property we've ever stayed at. Not only is the exterior breathtaking, the interior is super spacious & modernly updated. Only advice I'd give is to try & arrive before the sun goes down, as the drive in can be tough in the dark. Highly recommend for a couple's getaway.

I can't recommend this property enough. VRBO can be difficult to tell if the pictures are accurate, but this property definitely delivers on ALL promises and more. If you're looking for a quiet, private little getaway spot, this is it.

Amazing

The place is perfect, we stayed here for a mini honeymoon and absolutely loved the place. Stunning and beautiful. Only issue we had is that to get the hot tub hot enough you have to turn on the jets and past a certain hour the neighbor will come over and kindly ask you to turn it off. If you could heat it without the jet sounds ?

Secluded slice of paradise

We had a wonderful stay at this secluded slice of paradise. Off the beaten path, it was the perfect place to disconnect and relax, while still being within an easy drive of town, beaches, and other attractions. We thoroughly enjoyed our time, and the only drawback was that it would have been nice to have more towels for the week. But overall, an amazing experience!

Wonderful Rainforest Hut

We loved this property . Jeffrey is an outstanding host . The views, flowers , hot tub were all great . Only ONLY downside is that roosters crow 24/7 so bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper . Otherwise perfection .

Stunning. Just as advertised. Clean, well-stocked jungle getaway on the North Shore. Jeffrey was gracious enough to give us an extra hour....made our last day on the island a memorable one. Worth every penny.

Truly Magnificent Property

It's hard to describe how amazing this property is - we felt like we were staying in a private botanical garden with an incredible pool & hot tub! It was perfection. The house was well appointed with coffee and luxury linens and everything we could need, but we spent most of our time on the sprawling patios/decks surrounded by nature and mountains! The property manager Koko was super helpful, when we left an item behind he immediately mailed it to us. What a gem!

A wonderful experience

We had a great holiday at the property and surrounding area. The property is well situated with beautiful landscaping and mountain views with easy access to the many attractions in the northern part of the island. The house is well maintained -- a new washing machine was installed the day we arrived, as well as a new living room carpet. It is obvious that the owner is devoted to keeping the property in great condition. The caretaker lives in proximity, and is attentive, cheerful and competent. We will happily return in the future.

Fabulous!

Everything about this place is amazing. There are no adequate words to describe the view. Just incredible. No lights at night, we could see the stars. Very private, comfortable, the bathroom looked new, love the shower! New appliances in the kitchen. Small, perfect for two. The decks were excellent love eating out there in the scenery. Birds everywhere. One cool detail.. most of the watercolors and prints in the house seem to be done by the owner. They are beautiful. So convenient to the northern beaches!

Botanical Garden Getaway

Awesome. It was awesome. Neighbors are allot closer than pictures would suggest. 3 houses within 100 feet, BUT it was still extremely private. Jungle living I guess. We could never find the trail down to the small river/creek but we could see it. The outside shower was my favorite. Taking a hot shower outside in the garden of Eden was pretty amazing. Very well kept, clean, updated. The property manager always communicated back quickly with any questions we had. We loved it.

Not quite as expected

Jeffrey gave the wrong address on the check in instructions so we got off to a bad start. Although surrounded by dense jungle, the neighbors are actually extremely close and can be easily heard. A dog unexpectedly spent the day at the cottage, blocking the front door. The pool and spa did not look appealing at all. Overall, the cottage is quite rustic but has all the amenities you would likely need. The fridge is small and missing shelves but functioning. The view from the deck is surreal and a pleasant place to sit and sip cocktails. The nearby beaches were great as was the close proximity to fabulous hikes. We appreciated Jeffrey's detailed recommendations.

Soul soothing hideaway!

My time here in your cottage is at an end, and it has been all too short. I came here for a quick tour of Kauai before a wedding I am attending on Oahu next week. Well, the island tour never happened, because I never left Hanalei. What I found here was so peaceful and soothing to the soul that I found myself doing things I normally never take time to do: observe nature, and rest. I practiced yoga every day, meditated at least twice a day, and read a couple of great books. I was able to completely decompress, had no schedule or even sense of time, and felt so comfortable and safe in the little cottage that I am having a bit of separation anxiety at the thought of leaving this morning! Thank you so much for allowing me to stay here. I most certainly will return, hopefully next time for several weeks instead of a measly couple of days. Mahalo!!

Dreamy Wainiha Hideaway

Jeffrey's Hale Wainiha was the perfect home base for us to explore the North Coast and is a cozy, comfortable hideaway tucked back in the hills of the Wainiha Valley. The house is modernly appointed and has everything you need - a stocked kitchen, gas bbq, pool, hot tub, outdoor tables and loungers, plus gear to enjoy the beach. All you need is a car and you're set. We bought fresh fish in Hanalei at the Dolphin and fresh veggies and fruit from the farmers market and cooked most meals at the house. Jeffrey also provides an extensive list of dining and adventure options that you'll want to research before you leave so you can take advantage of them all. The views from the house and decks are astonishingly beautiful. You'll feel like you're a million miles away from everything, but it's only a quick trip over the quaint single-lane bridges into Hanalei for shops, restaurants, and a fabulous farmers' market. The house also puts you in easy driving of some of the most beautiful beaches on the island, not to mention Ha'ena Park and the not-to-be-missed hike to the beach and waterfall. Thank you, Jeffrey, for sharing your incredible Hale Wainiha with us - we had a delightful time and hope to come staty again in the future.

Beautiful cottage and View!

I can not say enough good things about this place. The views are to die for! The backyard is a little piece of paradise for you to enjoy by yourself. The pool is awesome and there are several fruit trees to pick from. The whole place is very peaceful and relaxing. There is all kinds of wildlife you can see and hear just sitting in the yard (Lizards, frogs, birds). The cottage is really cozy, inviting and the bed was very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with anything you need to cook a meal if you want to. The property is very clean and well maintained. The outdoor shower was totally awesome when you need to quickly rinse after a day at the beach(it has hot water). There are neighbors close by, but you would never know it while you are at the house, it feels totally private and secluded. It is close to some really great beaches (tunnels, Ke'e beach) and hikes(the waterfall hike is a must do if you can). It is also a short drive to some great restaurants and stores. There are lots of things at the house for you to use while you are there (snorkel sets, coolers, beach chairs, surf boards, and beach towels). The owner was very friendly, helpful and easy to deal with. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who comes to this island. It was amazing! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here and will be back to stay again for sure! Thank you Jeffrey!

Not quite as wonderful as we had hoped

Staying at Hale Wainiha was a little like staying at a friend's cottage with a lot of "terrifics" and some not so.... Let's start with all the good news--and there's a lot of it. Jeffrey, the owner, is an excellent communicator, who responded quickly to emails and provided a lot of valuable information about the area. Altho' we never met him, he sounds like a really nice guy. The cottage has excellent equipment from top-notch appliances to kitchenware to electronic equipment to snorkelling equipment to "beach stuff." It is also very comfortable. Our not-so-terrifics come in part from having weather that was coolish and greyish, and sometimes very wet, meaning that we could almost never use the lanai or dipping pool and enjoy the beautiful outdoor environment. The other not-so-terrifics came from expectations and comparisons with the other four vacation rentals we stayed in on Kauai. One of our expecations had to do with the fact the owner was an architect. We had assumed that architect owner=good design. There is almost nothing in the cottage that would suggest that the owner was an architect. No care has been take to make sure that colors are harmonious, that counters work well with the flooring, etc. I fully realize that this won't make a bit of difference to most people, but it did to us. It also felt a bit messy, due partly to the space restrictions. For example, the outdoor shower shares space with coolers and snorkelling equipment; extra linens are shoved into a cupboard without being folded properly; windows aren't really clean, and the screens in the bathroom are clogged. Again, some people wouldn't care about this, but the standards were definitely below those of other vacation rentals we stayed in. Quite possibly the owner just hasn't got around to making interior and maintenance improvements, but they are next on his To Do list. Looking at the photo, know that the cottage isn't as private as it appears to be. The photo is taken from a place you really don't have access to as it's on a neighboring property. The palm tree in the foreground cleverly conceals the view of a neighbor's house, which is completely visible from the cotage's lanai and pool. There is another house to the other side, but it is set behind the cottage so is really of no concern. The main road is actually behind the cottage. Altho' the cottage is quite private, it isn't quite as away-from-it-all as we had expected.

A jungle paradise

We booked Hale Wainiha to celebrate our 10th anniversary and were not disappointed in our choice. The property is exactly as listed and is a wonderful place to hang out after spending our days exploring Kaua’i. The lush jungle views offered by Wainiha Valley from the lanai during the day are exceptional and star gazing from the hot tub and pool at night is absolutely stunning. We enjoyed watching the nene come and go from the stream that runs through the valley. Jeffrey is a talented artist and his watercolor paintings are a joy to see hanging on the walls.
