"This hotel is adorable and perfect for travellers who want to save some money while staying in the jungle. The pool is small and intimate - perfect for plunges and cooling off while sun tanning, the yoga Shala overlooking the jungle is beautiful and staff are so friendly. Only issues I had here was I could hear the person in the next room over moving and coughing all night (no sound proofing and very thin walls with the shipping container design) and the bathroom and bed area had ants all of the walls (this isn’t a sanitation thing, it’s just the season in CR). Staff provided me with ant spray to control the spread and it seemed to work after a few hours. As long as you know about the thin walls and potential bugs based on the season in Nosara, this place is great. I also want too happy that I booked a double room w a terrace view overlooking the mountains but was “upgraded” to a triple room with a garden walk-out. As a solo traveller I wanted to more secluded double room w mountain terrace and didn’t want the extra bed. They had given my room to someone else by the time I checked in and didn’t want to honour my specific room booking type. "

"The Sunset Shack was fantastic for our family trip to Nosara. The beach is super close, and the town is very cute. We were right in the middle of it all. Monkeys in the mango trees on the property in the morning, and iguanas roaming all day. The food, the staff, and the hotel itself were all 5 stars! We would love to return to Nosara, and would not stay anywhere else. Thank you Sunset Shack!"

"We couldn't have asked for a better stay. We loved this section of the beach, the property and casita were perfect (it was raining mangoes, so lots of monkey sightings!) and the locals were beyond friendly. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again!"

"What a perfect home. The pool was such a perfect addition. The kitchen was equipped well and my multiple generation family of nine had plenty of room. Favorite parts of the Sanctuary…easy 5 or so minutes to the beach, 10 minutes to town on a fun golf cart. The house is beautifully designed to accommodate a larger group. Seeing and hearing howling monkeys. The concierge service was so helpful, as was the host. Thank you for creating such a perfect space to make for lasting memories. Sunset on the beach every night…"

"The room was wonderful and bright. The staff did an amazing job at cleaning it and keeping it fresh. the entirety of the gilded iguana staff was kind and helpful. the breakfast was delicious and there was a variety of good eat options. the whole resort was well air conditioned and we never felt hot for a second while in our room. The kids club is amazing and the pool is pristine and the perfect temperature. and it is only a five minute walk away from a stunning beach. i definitely recommend the gilded iguana."

"Our extended family of 13 greatly enjoyed two weeks during Christmas/New Years at Paloma Azul. Craig and Cristina were extremely helpful with everything -- shuttle vans, car reservations, response to myriad questions, and restaurant recommendations. This is a classic beach house: Five sleeping rooms are enclosed with AC while the living, dining and kitchen areas are open under a palapa. This arrangement supports people being together with little privacy except in the bedrooms — which is great for bringing together families!The open living area means that it's exposed to the surrounding wildlife at all times and especially at night -- meaning that raccoons are able to enter all aspects of the kitchen, even when food is securely put away, they will knock over glasses and bottled containers, climb on counter tops, and do what they'd like during the night time hours throughout the kitchen and living area. During the day, coati, iguanas and other wildlife freely roam throughout these areas as well. We had an issue with the AC in 2 of the 5 bedrooms, as they didn't work at full power during the day when the sun is the hottest. Still, the pool and nearby ocean (extremely beautiful beach at both low and high tide!) provide ample opportunity to cool off. We couldn't find the ocean view mentioned in the VRBO description, nor the boogie boards, so we had to buy our own. Also important to note that there isn't hot water or a dishwasher in the kitchen.Overall, our family enjoyed "
