Our key card didnt work for the majority of our stay. We spent quite a bit of time having to call the main desk to get someone out to open the door for us. The key card would not unlock the internal rooms, so at one point we were locked out of our bedroom. Could nt close the door if noone was in the room. There was a very strong disgusting smell coming from one of the toilets, so we avoided using this and kept the door closed. Stove top lights didnt indicate the right element being used. No spare blankets. No face cloths, no shampoo or conditioner, very minimal kitchenware eg 1x pot, so there wasnt actually much benefit of having a kitchen. If we hadnt of encounted all of the above this would have been a nice place to stay. We chose to stay here over a motel because of the oven/stove top which we didnt benefit from.

We loved the location and ease of access to the freeway and nearby shops. The rooms were overly spacious and the living area more than big enough for all of us. The separate ensuites were great for the older kids and the kitchen had everything we needed for cooking

Great self-contained units on Deakin Uni campus
The apartment was nice and clean, self contained unit with kitchen, and laundry facilities. I booked a 2 bedroom apartment was upgraded to a 3 bedroom. The living area was air conditioned, with ceiling fans in the bedroom. We propped the bedroom doors open all day so the bedrooms did not get too hot. The apartments are not serviced daily but that was not a problem for us. Parking was paid for by app or daily by machine by the residential services but you can only get the app with an Australian mobile number. Ideal if you want a space that you can cook in/ do your own laundry and be left to your own devices. I booked this accommodation as I had people to visit at the university but it is very close to all the sights along the Great Ocean Road.

Room wasn't air conditioned (a bit of an issue on a really hot night but I'd brought my own fan) so I got caught off guard a little. I was told I'd get an in room fridge over the phone, but this wasn't the case. Overall it did the job.

Three bedroom apartments perfect for groups or families, very comfortable & the staff fantastic. The university grounds are lovely & even when fully booked it was extremely quiet. Great location not far from shops & train station, with bus stop on site. Only criticism is the bathrooms were not 100% clean with lots of bugs around, but overall great value for money & would definitely stay here again.

Not nice! Unorganised, unkept room was not as stated, had trouble finding the reception (not the only people) did not supply enough towels and did not bring additional to the room when it brought to their attention. Had to pay for parking. Would not stay again

Good Value University Accommodation
University rents out room in accomodation block. As summer holiday, hardly anyone there. Stayed in single room. Shared Bathroom and facilities which were clean and good.

enjoyable stay
We stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment style accommodation, nice view, nicely furnished, great facilities and cleanliness, each room had comfortable beds and ample storage, there were provision for laundry and ironing which were very handy. Enjoyed our stay and can highly recommend to others.

The rooms are new and clean. Excellent for the price. There are 2 big wardrobes in my room, and laundry is for free. The building I stayed doesn’t have air-con, so the first floor may be too warm in hot summer days, but the ground floor is quite cool.

Great place to stay
The accomodation was located in the middle of everything, basically. Luckily we stayed during off campus period so we don’t need to worry about parking. This place reminds me of when I was a uni student.

Good value for money
The hotel overall was good for value. Pros- good value for money, rooms were spacey and the apartment we stayed in was quite big and easily accommodated all of us (6 adults and 1 baby) hotel staff were helpful with questions. Utilities - good amount of everything you would need to cook along with washing machine and dryer. Cons- No extra pillows. Rooms got quite warm as they had ceiling fans but the only air conditioning was in the lounge so we had to have our bedroom doors open to circulate air. We were looking forward to having a bbq but the bbq was not maintained at all and looked like it hadn’t been touched in a very long time with spiders everywhere. The fob system we got locked out of our bedrooms 3 times which was concerning as we had a baby so we had to have to bedrooms door stopped open all the time. The staff were friendly into opening the doors back open for us but it was inconvenient. Overall we will stay again. Thank you.

Huge rooms
Clean and large rooms. Close to the mall with multiple restaurants. We were there when university was closed so very quite and plenty of space to park.

Close to the shopping centre and beaches
I enjoyed my stay at Deakin Residence. We had the whole unit, the staff were friendly and accessible 24/7. The provided free access to the tennis court with free hire of tennis rackets and balls. The rooms and bathrooms were clean. No aircon in rooms only in common areas.

Extremely affordable as it is shared amenities i.e. kitchen, bathroom, laundry. Short term stays during the universitys holiday break. If your looking for peace and quiet, this location is ideal. Perfect for backpackers. Public transport very conveniently located.

The apartment met most of our needs. It would have been nice to have bedside tables & lamps, however we managed without. A second pillow in the rooms would also have helped as would face cloths. For the price though, & the nature of the accommodation it was fine.

Irresponsible staff. Not customer focused. If you like you stay we don't care you: this what I felt. Price was cheap even though it could get good rating with a customer focused team of staff members. Room was very bad smelly. I could imagine the standard of this place because I was the only one in the building of around 8-10 rooms. It needs a major improvement

Clean, quiet and secure.
This was a great place to stay. Very secure and clean. Very spacious with 3 large bedrooms and open living area. Lots of cupboard space in each bedroom. Aircon worked well and was already switched on for us. Accommodation was great! Parking was tricky with the need of a permit.

Deakin student accommodation
Deakin Warn Ponds, is student accommodation, so it is basic but it is clean and great for short stays. Lots of sporty things and there are newer family style units that look good. It is a very large campus set in lovely native landscape with birds calling to add to being sort of in the country.

1. I arrived after hours, the receptionist (who was actually lovely), gave me my room key and directed me to the building. I went into my assigned room and was greeted with the odour of a boy, a room with a pull down bed as well as a vacuum on the floor. When I pulled down the bed, it was bare, no sheets, pillow, blanket, etc. after calling reception, the lady got me another room and said "I dont know why they gave you this room, they're not supposed to. 2. The next room I got was better, actually had a normal bed with linen! 3. At 5am, I ventured out to my car to grab a few things I forgot to grab the night before, went back to the building, my pass would not work. I was locked out of my room at 5am in my pyjamas! Thankfully security helped me back in within a few minutes.

Bad arrangement for a single woman
Due to work so needed to stay a night in Geelong. I wasn't too fussy as I had experience staying in youth hostel before when travelling so I know what I could expect. Yes, it looked pretty secure as you need a fob to get into the dorm that means people not staying in the dorm could not get in. There were 5 secured single bedroom in the dorm. There was 1 unisex bathroom with 2 cubicles inside. 1 was the toilet and one was the shower. There was lock in each cubicle but there was no lock to the main door of the bathroom so that means anyone can walk in while you have a shower or vice versa. I was ok with shared facility like that but not when you were staying with another single man who I didn't know. The whole night I was staying with only 1 other single man in a dorm that was locked from the outside. His bedroom was right next to shared bathroom. I was so scared every time I went to the bathroom worrying he might grab me into his bedroom. Sorry to say that as it seemed not fair to the other man who might also be worrying his safety too. I thought they should separate into female and male dorm unless people booked in group. The only detail they had was my name and that's all as I booked online through wotif. They didn't even check my ID or take any more detail of me when I checked in. I guess this might be the same for the other man who was staying there. Overall it's such a terrible experience I had. Certainly would not go again.

I wanted a motel room with all facilities not a room with just a table and bed. I went back home as my holiday was ruined. I do not know how you could make that mistake. I sincerely believe that I should have my money returned as I really expected a motel room. Denis Crawley

Deakin University Accommodation Waurn Ponds
We stayed in a 2 bedroom townhouse. Loved the size of the rooms, very large. But there were no bedside tables in the rooms? The location is a very short drive to Waurn Ponds shops. However the fridge still had pizza and milk from the previous guests. The oven needed cleaning as smoke poured out when we pre-heated it. It would be good if there was a guest manual, as we were not told that leaving the back door open for more than 1 minute would set off an alarm (which sounds like a smoke alarm). As we did not know that the alarm was for the door, we had to wait an hour for security to come and tell us to just shut the door. Also the ceiling fan remote control only works if the fan light switch on the wall is on. The WiFi instructions should include the web address of the Deakin login page, as my browser did not automatically redirect. As we had to pay for parking in front of the townhouse, and you could not purchase a ticket in advance, I had to get up before 8:30am, then drive to the ticket machine as there was no ticket machine close to my carpark. There must be a better way to pay for parking for holiday guests. What if I wanted to sleep in until 10am? If these issues are addressed then I would rate the stay 5 out of 5.

Air conditioning would be great. Our apartment was 30 degrees when we arrived. Only 1 window opened. Ceilibg fans worked on high all night long. It was HOT!

Great place
Great place. You need a car but within travelling distance to everywhere. We went to Geelong, Ocean Grove, Supatramps (Grovedale) and the swimming pool. Shopping Centre just down the road. Quiet location, friendly staff, clean rooms. Better than some Motels I've stayed in. Great price, value for money. We will use again.
