Views across the water from each suite are exquisite with opportunities for walks along the water's edge.
The daily credit toward dining at the restaurant was really useful as the food quality is excellent

The communication from Bicheno by the Bay was exceptional, making our check-in and checkout very simple (even considering we arrived after their reception had closed). We were given a larger room than we had booked, which was really lovely. It was well appointed with all the amenities we needed. It's situated in a great location close to all the local attractions and facilities (like the IGA). They provided a map of the local area and recommendations for where to go.

Great secluded location. Lots of walks to do nearby.
Unfortunately the refrigerator in the room running was very loud at night making it difficult to sleep.

Quiet little motel at the end of town. Immaculately maintained gardens. Smaller size room but everything you need. Bathroom looks like it had just been renovated and rooms were freshly painted/carpet. Staff were very friendly.

We enjoyed our stay in the villa so much. The villa is nice and clean with all amenities available for us. The view is fantastic for sunset. The breakfast is simple but good. Can definitely feel staff’s’ dedication from the freshness of foods and set out of the dining room. The staff is very friendly and sweet. I hope all the best to this resort. And I will return if I go to Coles bay again.

From receiving a personal greeting and garden tour from our host, the romantic and cute cottage accommodation, to the spectacular views from the deck at the back, we were highly impressed with this accommodation- particularly as it is a new listing and was recently purchased. It is obvious that the hosts have placed much love, time and effort in the attention to detail even with small things such as having an oil burner with lavender scent. The bed was very comfortable and it was the best sleep...

Spent 5 days at Swansea, with sunshine & rain. Had walks on the beach, paid a visit just out of town to Kate's Berry Farm for great gluten free crepes & fresh berries. Took a drive up to the Bay of Fires & Coles Bay, beautiful scenery. When it rained grabbed a coffee & read a book, very relaxing. The locals were so happy for the rain.

We spent a night here preparing for a visit to Freycinet and were very pleased with the friendly welcome and lovely view.
Keep in mind that Wotif displays motel distances from your desired destination in a slightly deceptive fashion:
If you type in "Freycinet" for example, Wotif will show Swansea motel options as being only 25 km away however that is the crow flies - it's actually 65 kms drive to get around the bay. Perhaps Wotif could refine their distance measurements to reflect more...

stayed here for 1 night. didnt realise the check in was only until 8 or 8 30. The onsite manager was kind to give me a bit more time to arrive. I didnt use any common facilities, not sure if ther are any. No issues with parking, was very quiet, nice view. The room was old-ish but well maintained - no smell, everything was working. good view, ocean breeze. Easy to check in and out.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which area of Friendly Beaches is best to stay in for cheap hotels?
While Friendly Beaches itself is a national park renowned for its pristine, undeveloped coastline and offers no hotels or traditional accommodations directly within its boundaries, budget-conscious travellers, particularly solo adventurers, can find affordable options in nearby towns. The closest townships offering accommodation are Bicheno and Coles Bay, both about a 30-minute drive from Friendly Beaches, providing a base for exploring the area without breaking the bank.
Bicheno is a charming coastal town that often features more budget-friendly guesthouses, motels, and caravan parks with cabin options. Solo travellers will find its relaxed atmosphere appealing, with opportunities to enjoy the Bicheno Blowhole or a free evening penguin tour, keeping daily costs down. The town also has a supermarket, allowing for self-suiting save on dining expenses.
Coles Bay, while generally having more upscale options due to its proximity to Freycinet National Park, does offer some hostels and holiday park cabins that can be economical choices for solo travellers. It's an excellent base for exploring the famous Wineglass Bay, with many free walking trails accessible from the town.
When is the most affordable time to visit Friendly Beaches?
The most affordable time to visit Friendly Beaches, Tasmania, is generally during the shoulder seasons, specifically autumn (March to May) and spring (September to November). These periods offer a sweet spot with pleasant weather and fewer crowds, leading to lower prices for accommodation and activities.
For solo travellers, autumn can be particularly appealing. The weather is still mild enough for hiking and exploring the coastline, but the summer rush has subsided, making it easier to find deals on guesthouses and smaller hotels. You'll often find more competitive rates on car hire during these months too, which is essential for independently exploring the region.
Spring also presents excellent value, with the landscape bursting into bloom and wildlife becoming more active. Families might find this time ideal as the milder temperatures are comfortable for outdoor adventures without the intense heat of summer.
What free activities should we do in Friendly Beaches?
Friendly Beaches offers a wealth of free activities, primarily centred around its stunning natural environment, superb for budget-conscious solo travellers.
The most prominent free activity is simply enjoying the beautiful, expansive beaches themselves. You can spend hours walking along the pristine white sands, collecting seashells, or just relaxing by the ocean. The area is known for its dramatic coastline, so exploring the various coves and rock formations provides endless scenic opportunities.
For those who enjoy wildlife spotting, the area is home to diverse birdlife, and you might even catch a glimpse of local marsupials, particularly at dawn or dusk. There are several walking tracks that wind through the coastal bushland, offering different perspectives of the landscape and the chance to observe nature up close. These tracks are generally well-maintained and free to access, requiring only a good pair of walking shoes.
