Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you're well prepared. We've put together a list of essential travel tips that will get your San Clemente escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:

• Flying can be a pleasure if you pack the right gear. Firstly, you'll want some basic toiletries, such as a toothbrush and hairbrush, a fresh set of clothes and something to read. What to wear on a flight:

• Your priority is to be as comfortable as possible. Choose slip-on footwear, dress in loose, breathable clothing and don't forget to take a sweater in case it gets cold in the cabin.
• Most travellers have heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity. To lower your risk on board, drink plenty of water, consider wearing compression socks and keep your feet and legs moving.
