"I would have given Coconut Cay a 5 star review again this year, but we had a terrible check in experience! We booked a King Island Room online in October 2025 for our stay this March 2026. We paid with credit card in full and since it was our second year booking we were expecting a very bright nice room with a view, just as shown in the photos on Expedia!! Instead, when we arrived, we were told that our room would be in the front of the hotel, right next to the office. A very dark room with no window!! The staff person said that was our only choice unless we paid another $700 to upgrade!! We were shocked and complained, but to no avail. Finally my sister and her husband spoke to the staff on our behalf and the manager was phoned and agreed to give us the room we had paid for IF we paid another $364!! We did pay the crazy upcharge fee and enjoyed our stay, but we paid more than my sister did and she had a suite with kitchen area! BEWARE WHEN YOU BOOK THIS HOTEL ON EXPEDIA!! We love Marathon Key, but not sure we will stay at Coconut Cay and get robbed again."

"Clean, comfortable house. We loved the private heated pool and hot tub. Marathon is centrally located in the keys and allowed a day trip to Everglades NP and 2 days in Key West. Everything was clean with a couple small issues we brought to the manager’s attention. We cook a lot and had almost everything needed. We would definitely stay here again. The King Master is upstairs with a shared bathroom with the Wueen & twin rooms. A queen room with en suite bath is on the main level which is up a set of steps from the parking- so not great if you can’t do steps. I feel like it was advertised that I would need to bring all the extras and wasn’t surprised, but We dislike Florida rental standards that they don’t leave more than a starter of things like laundry soap, dish soap, cleaning supplies, TP etc. this is a BYO most things including ziplocks, Tupperware (we had to buy some), spices, TP. Overall, we had a great week and would stay again. The manager is very hands on and checked in frequently. "

"What a great place to stay! Close to everything and they have their own bar and taco truck! Music is live every Tuesday and Friday from 6-9. We stayed in teal cabin and loved it!"

"This resort is a solid 3 star. Check-in is definitely 4 pm or later. No rooms were ready any earlier. Rooms were updated, except for the TV's which were small and dated. (this is my husbands complaint) Clean, however no daily room cleaning unless you ask. I did request our sheets to be changed but the bed was only made, not changed. The bedroom air conditioner blows directly on the right side of the bed, so this took some adjusting in the middle of the night, thus the request for clean sheets. Breakfast was tasty but limited, scrambled eggs or hard boiled, bacon and waffles. Bread, English muffins. Coffee, juice and whole fruit available. I wish there had been some muffins or danish for those with a morning sweet tooth. We never ordered lunch but I did see quite large portions served, mostly leaning Greek. All look good. The pool was nice, typical lounge grab in the mornings. Nice, large new umbrellas. Live music some afternoons. Everyone in the pool made for some murky water, but everyone seemed happy. Lots of boat talk. Overall a positive stay for us"

"Katie was very responsive and answered any questions that I had. We had a great time, house was very clean and comfortable. We paid the extra to have the pool heated and was worth it to us. I liked that they provided extras like enough trash bags, dish soap, sponge, coffee filters, paper towel, TP and even had salt and pepper. The location was just off US1 and we even spotted a manatee in the Chanel.I would not hesitate staying here again."

"The house has been very tastefully remodeled. The bathrooms have tiled showers and the toilets have bidets. The kitchen is very nice and all rooms are decorated with a vacation theme. The pool and hot tub are very nice and clean. Overall, it was perfect for me and my group. JC is an outstanding host and we would stay at this house again when visiting the keys!"
