"Bathrooms at pool could have been a little better "

"The room was clean, the staff was nice, close to the beach. Downside- the room came with only one wash cloth. I asked three times and never got one. I had to use a hair towel which worked but wasn’t ideal. Requested toilet paper as well and never got it had to go to the front desk for it. The pump for the body wash in the shower didn’t work. I had to remove the top and use it that way. Minor inconvenience but for the cost of the room they could do better. The electric went out twice while we were there only at this location so I’m not sure if they blew a fuse or what. We never did get an explanation. Crazy how hotels charge a 300$ deposit to protect their items but can’t provide the basics. Over all it was ok. "

"The Catalina is in desperate need of a remodel. There are many beautiful spaces in the hotel at the bars, restaurants pool, and lobby area, but that stops once you start walking to the room. The property is showing its age between the broken elevator, the stained carpets, holes in the wall and oddly missing amenities (like a toilet paper holder?) If you are looking for a basic room, with a decent bed and a clean room to sleep, it meets the requirement. The staff and service do try to make up for the age of the property. Great front desk staff, a free happy hour, available beach towels and regular cleanings. It’s a great staff trying to make the best of a broken down hotel. "

"The employee is at the front desk were very friendly- the room that we had looked nothing like the rooms that were pictured. We stayed in a one king bed deluxe room for reference. They had given our room assignment to somebody else at night when we stayed and they opened our door while we were sleeping, which was quite unsettling. We also requested a 1 PM check out but ended up leaving at 7:30 AM due to the night. We told them to please cancel when we were leaving and told them about our disturbance at night, which they recognized, but did nothing to amend it. They also charged us for the 1 PM check out and have been very difficult to get a hold of.. they did text me to say they will take care of it. I tried calling and no answer again."

"The location is great, but the logistics are a nightmare. While the hotel is situated near great cafes and the beach, the interior is a mixed bag: the lobby is welcoming, but the rooms are small, damp, and accessed via dated hallways. However, the biggest deterrent is the service. The valet was nowhere to be found, and the front desk staff provided conflicting, incorrect directions to the non-existent valet—even confusing basic local cross-streets like 16th and Collins. We eventually gave up on finding the non-existent valet, and found a much cheaper public garage nearby. Save yourself the stress and avoid this hotel if you are traveling with a car. And if the hotel is seeking feedback, here it is: hire a new valet service. What you have currently is a joke. "
