"This is a really lovely hotel for an even lovelier price ! The staff are very friendly, the rooms spacious and spotless and we had an excellent breakfast that kept us going all day. We would normally have stayed at the Premier Inn in Dumfries every time we come over from NI to visit family but will definitely be staying in the Holiday Inn in Dumfries from now on. "

"I have stayed here several times, but always in a renovated room, so first time in an unrenovated one, it is dated but serviceable and good value. Great friendly staff and service is good. Food is good value. "

"Thank you so much Derek and Rena for such a lovely stay! Hamilton House is a warm and welcoming home with large comfortable rooms and an amazing freshly cooked breakfast! The beds were amazing and I slept brilliantly. Very convenient for the Ice Bowl but also for the Train Station and centre of town. It was also really useful to have use of a fridge and microwave in the dining room to heat up an M&S meal at night (and keep my wine chilled!). Will definitely be back and can’t recommend highly enough…Rena and Derek are wonderful hosts. "

"This is a VERY bare-boned place to stay - I was at the very top = many narrow stairs! Centrally located and quiet; but that was sheer luck, because the two other sparse rooms on either side of me happened to have quiet people in them thank goodness! ...not a lot to say; nice couple owns it...my bathroom was across the hall and I had to use a key each time to use it...VERY bare bones...heat was good...no real place to settle into the room, so stayed out most of the evening... "
