Not a great hotel 😞

Nice hotel, staff helpful as had to comment on a couple of things. Got to room 1 child age 17 2 adults, only 1 bed? Asked receptionist and she set up a Z bed -really for a 17 year old!! Told the staff that this is not acceptable as website states “executive room 1 king bed and sofa bed” after the 3rd room we finally changed to a king bed and sofa bed which were both very comfy. Went to restaurant at 7:15 and was told there will not be a table until 7:50, went back at 7:50 to be told at least another 20 minutes! Finally at 8:20 they set places at the table we were sat at why this could not be done at 7:50pm I have no idea. Finally at 8:42 food arrived. Steak pie Luke warm chips not fully cooked so not great food. In the morning went for a shower and there was no hot water so it was a very fast shower for us all then go to use hair dryer that wasn’t working, went to reception and 10 minutes later a replacement hair dryer arrived. Went for breakfast and this was very nice thankfully. Staff were very helpful in trying to sort everything but it really was a eventful stay. Sorry would not stay again.

Take your own Wine.

I was disappointed by this Holiday Inn. Check in was pleasant enough and the room was very nice. It had just been re-carpeted as it had that new carpet smell about it so I immediately took my boots off as I didn't want to dirty the new floor covering. The disappointments came when I went down for dinner, firstly I thought I had inadvertently ordered a bottle of Rioja and not a glass as I was presented with a bill for £12.00. Now I know hotels can charge for their wine but £12 was pushing it a bit, the bar server assured me I had ordered their most expensive wine and not the cheap house red at £8.00 which is even a steep for a house wine, needless to say I only had the one (tight Yorkshireman) The next disappointment was the selection of food in the restaurant, no steaks available so I opted for a Brasserie Burger for £16.00 which again was OTT for a burger with a bit of bacon on it. I could have got a tastier burger for a third of the price down the road. This Holiday Inn didn't get the email saying "You are only one step up from a Premier Inn" and obviously had thoughts of Grandeur and they were a top class hotel which could charge accordingly.
