An amazing B&B experience in the town on Portland, the property is as advertised, vintage yet maintained perfectly.
Feels like 5 stars is not enough to rate this place.

Was looking for a reasonably attractive, reasonably priced, clean and central place to stay in Portland; and found it.
My room was spacious and had a comfortable bed and couch.
The staff consistently cleaned the rooms immaculately.
Only a couple of minutes stroll to Portland's shopping streets.

The Whaler's Rest is exactly what you want in a motel. Well priced, clean, spacious, and the owners are very friendly.
The rooms are not fancy with designer fittings but that's not an issue because have everything you need: kettle, microwave, TV, tea & coffee, AC/Heating and, of course, beds. There is also free guest wifi and a breakfast service available. The bathrooms include a hair dryer and a daily towel replacement service (or you can opt to reuse your towels if you wish).

Beautifully decorated in period furnishings. Very homely sitting by the open fire every evening sipping port and enjoying a piece of fruit cake. Our hosts were tenative and knowledgeable of the history of Victoria House and surrounding area. A delicious full breakfast of tomatoes, eggs, sausage, bacon and toast, plus cereal if you were still hungry. The dining windows looked out onto a cottage garden where we were entertained by the friendly house cat Tuppence and playful dog, Boof. They were a...

What is the best area to stay in Cape Bridgewater?
The best area to stay in Cape Bridgewater is along the main beachfront road, Bridgewater Road, which runs parallel to the bay.
This area is the heart of Cape Bridgewater, offering direct access to the beach and the main local amenities. You'll find most of the holiday rentals, cafes, and the general store here, all within easy walking distance of the sand and surf. The layout is quite linear, stretching along the curve of the bay.
For families, this beachfront strip is ideal. Children can easily access the relatively calm waters of the bay for swimming and playing, and the accommodation options often come with facilities like outdoor spaces for barbecues. The convenience of having everything close by means less travel and more time enjoying the beach.
Couples looking for a relaxing escape will also appreciate this area. With the sound of the ocean nearby and stunning sunsets over the water, it provides a tranquil setting.
When is the best time to go to Cape Bridgewater?
The best time to go to Cape Bridgewater is during the warmer months, specifically from December to February, when the weather is ideal for outdoor activities and enjoying the coast.
During these months, you'll experience pleasant temperatures, typically ranging from 20°C to 25°C, with plenty of sunshine. This makes it great for exploring the Cape Bridgewater National Park, walking the scenic Great South West Walk, or simply relaxing on the beach. Water activities like swimming and surfing are also more enjoyable during this period.
Families will find these months particularly appealing due to the school holidays, allowing for a longer, more relaxed stay. The mild evenings are also great for enjoying outdoor dining or a barbecue, and the longer daylight hours mean more time for exploring the area's natural beauty, such as the Petrified Forest and the seal colony viewing platform.
Couples looking for a romantic getaway will appreciate the beautiful sunsets and opportunities for coastal walks hand-in-hand. The good weather provides a great backdrop for enjoying local produce at a vineyard or a quiet dinner overlooking the bay.
