"The last time we stayed at this hotel was over 20 years ago and we always had fond memories and loved the location. We were pleasantly surprised to see that the rooms have undergone a recent renovation and have a very nice, welcoming and cosy vibe. It's updated without resorting to hard grey laminate floors everywhere that's the trend these days (makes me feel like I'm staying in an office or empty museum: cold and harsh sound). This room wasn't large and yet didn't feel cramped at all. Just about perfect really. The only caveat worth mentioning is that we had a corner room overlooking State Street on one side, and the noise from the nearby bars was occasionally pretty loud. It doesn't let up until 2:00 am. I kinda enjoyed it, but I didn't have anywhere to rush off to the next day. If you know noise will prevent you from getting a good night sleep, just be sure to avoid the State Street facing rooms."

"Overall it is a good place. The location, 1/2 block from the water is the best thing about it. It is also clean and in good condition. No frills. No coffee makers in the room but they had coffee each morning in the lobby. The pool is clean and the pool area kept up well. No heater, so it is refreshing (especially on a hot day). It is a short drive to good restaurants and Stearn's Wharf."

"Great location, great responsiveness from host. Very comfortable bed and excellent shower. Lots of towels and beach towels, clothes steamer, nice toiletries. Parking can be a challenge if all the other units are full—we had to park well down the street a few times, including for checking in, which was frustrating. But most of the time parking worked out. If you have a lot of luggage it will be a tight squeeze—there is no place to put suitcases or personal belongings (a few hangers are provided.) Overall a good value for the area and a pleasant place to stay."
