The television didn’t work. There was a broken lamp hidden behind a chair. There was too much furniture and artwork in the room. I was worried about the amount of cabling and extension leads used in the room. There was a pile of random chargers, cleaning products and items on a shelf outside the room.

Small, cosy, warm, and comfortable
This is ideal for a quick visit. My room was on the top floor and had an en-suite. It was small, cosy, warm, and comfortable, exactly what I was looking for. The service was excellent also.

Great location, could be cleaner
The room was not very clean, but we did have a good nights sleep. Not great value for money as I expected a bit more from the room for the cost. Interior is in dire need of a refresh. However, great location.

Basic Hotel
A small older style hotel that met my needs. Friendly staff. It has small rooms with basic necessities. Too early check out time at 10am and WiFi reception on top floor was spotty.

Bed was like lying on a sand bag and the pillows were even harder, there was also what you could say were homeless people in there too .wasnt what i expected at all it looks better on the website than in reality

Good value for money
Friendly owner - good value for money. Clean and peaceful and and in a fantastic location. Only setback was no WiFi on the top floor!

Reasonable for the price
I needed a late check-in and the hotel had provided me with a code and left a key for me, which made things very straightforward. The hotel is not in the nicest area so I was glad to get inside having walked there from the hospital. The entrance hall was in reasonable condition but did smell of damp dogs, although this didn't carry to upper floors. My room was on the top floor. The ceiling height was very low which would be a problem for a taller traveller. The room was compact but had more amenities than I expected for the price- a mini fridge, tea and coffee facilities and a small TV. The window could be opened and the heating adjusted too which is good. The room was acceptably clean. Most importantly the bed was extremely comfortable with decent quality bedding and a variety of pillows. It was quiet the night I stayed, although the walls are thin. I slept really well and would probably stay again for the price.

Simple but comfortable
We stayed at Hudson's due to the cost and the location which were both excellent. The guesthouse was only a short walk to the pier and center of Brighton. Initially we believed that we had booked a room which had a bathroom. This was not quite the case, we had a room and the bathroom was ours but was up the stairs. This was very small and slightly inconvenient. The room had a large double bed which was comfortable. However, it was not very private. There was a door which lead to the cleaning room/where all the washing and ironing was kept. There was a curtain which initially we thought was fine. However, in the mornings this was see through and although no one was in that room it made getting ready for the day feel less private. I would personally invest in a thicker curtain to ensure privacy. In the mornings the guesthouse was loud and the early check out of 10.30 was quite inconvenient. I would recommend if you are looking for somewhere which is cheap and convent in a good location. However, there are small changes that i would make to make the guesthouse feel more comfortable

Nice solo room, good location in Brighton
Very nice staff, nice attitudes and helped me around the area. Double room is quite small but good for one person. Location is close enough to walk downtown but also quite close to seafront.

Pleasant stay
I thought Hudson’s was very handy for Kemptown,the staff were friendly and helpful and the room was comfortable enough for a hotel of this size. At a cost of £43 for a double room I could not find any reason to complain.

Lovely hotel and excellent location
Perfect location for us, close to the beach and the strip. The staff there were very lovey and attentive and our room was very clean. I would book this place again in a heart beat, the only thing I can think of would be the shower, it sometimes wouldn’t heat up and it came out very slow but if that’s the only thing then I can get over it! Thankyou for a wonderful stay x

Unfortunately we had a negative experience. I booked this one night stay for my daughters birthday. After hearing negative reviews about the basement room, I emailed ahead to request that we did not have the basement room. I received a prompt reply that I had been allocated a room on the first floor. Unfortunately on arrival we had been given the basement room. The room is small, claustrophobic, gloomy and needs a major refurbishment. The carpet is vile and stained. We are not fussy people and this is the first time I’ve written a negative review. For a 10 year old child to be disappointed with the room shows how terrible it was. We asked to be moved but was told there was no availability . In the morning the owner was present and we spoke about the poor standard of room. She apologised and is obviously aware the room is a poor standard. We were so disappointed especially as we had made this reservation well in advance. I have since received a reply from the owner offering a 50% reduction of a future booking and a better room. I had already explained that we would not want to return as we had a negative experience. A 50% refund on our ruined trip would have been more appropriate. However I have had no response to that email. It’s such a shame such a poor standard of room is in use as the hotel is in a lovely location

Nice little B&B with bathroom in room. Only wish they had something to hold soap/shampoo in the shower. Wi-fi a little spotty, but most of the time had a signal in the room. Other than that it was great.

We needed somewhere to stay near Kemp town for our friends 60 th birthday celebration. We couldn't have chosen better as after getting in quite late after celebrations, we had a perfect nights sleep in this lovely quiet place.. Breakfast the next morning at THE CORNER was the perfect end to the celebrations.. Will return again.

Great place to stay in Brighton
Hudsons was a last minute booking for a business trip to Brighton based purely on price. And what a good decision that was. When I dropped off my bags I wondered if perhaps I had made a mistake choosing this small and clearly family run hotel. But the welcome I got was warm, I wasn't charged an excess for using an Amex card ( as many places do), and I was then taken to a spectacularly well appointed and spotlessly clean room as good as any I have stayed in at the major chains. If you are in Brighton and need a comfortable room in walking distance of the town centre Hudsons is highly reccomended

Sandra was very welcoming, pleasant and nice. The room we were in was room 9 right on the top floor. we are in our sixties so it was a lot of narrow stairs to climb. The room was not as spacious as it looked on the website. I asked to change rooms but Sandra said they were fully booked although the doors to the other rooms were open and when we went in them they were all nice looking rooms with bigger bathrooms and bigger windows. I think it was because we only paid 45 pound a night for the room so what did we expect? Our bathroom was tiny, you couldn't really move in there. The shower was too small and far too noisy. we could hear the people showering in the other room. at least the toilet worked okay. the sink was too tiny to be functional being only about four by seven inches..felt like we were in a hostel not in a place advertised as 4 star. The tv only worked intermittently reception was bad and impossible to view sometimes only local channel. We were booked in for four nights but after three decided to go home as I had had enough of trying to get clean in that tiny bathroom. So you could say it was a bargain for 45 pound a night. If I was younger and on my own it might have been. we put up with it and laugh about it now but would never go back there. It is a shame because I really liked Sandra and she was very apologetic. However on the plus side the bedroom was lovely and quiet. we could see the sea out of the window and the bed was extremely comfortable.
