I stay at quite a few hotels and motels throughout eastern Australia. Some of them are big names and I believe they are dropping the ball cleanliness of rooms and delivery of services. In the past month I have stayed at three small privately owned motels and I have been delighted at what I saw and experienced. This is one of them.
At first glance the Wilsons Promontory Motel appears to be another budget motel but I stayed there for three nights and got to see how the owners and staff take...

The best area to stay in Boorool is the town centre, particularly around Main Street and the riverside.
This area is the heart of Boorool, offering easy access to most of the town's amenities and attractions. Main Street is where you'll find a selection of local shops, cafes, and restaurants, many with outdoor seating. The adjacent riverside promenade is great for leisurely strolls and offers pleasant views of the Boorool River.
Couples will find the town centre particularly appealing due to its convenient access to dining options and the relaxed pace of life. Many of the boutique accommodations here are within walking distance of the Boorool Art Gallery and the historic Boorool Heritage Museum, making it easy to enjoy cultural pursuits together.
For those looking for a slightly more secluded yet still convenient option, the areas just off Main Street towards the Boorool Botanical Gardens provide a quieter setting.
When is the best time to go to Boorool?
The best time to visit Boorool, Victoria, is during the spring (September to November) or autumn (March to May) months.
Spring offers mild temperatures and the region's natural landscapes are at their most colourful, with wildflowers blooming across the countryside. It's an excellent time for outdoor activities like hiking in the Boorool National Park or exploring the many walking trails that crisscross the area. The days are generally sunny and pleasant, making it ideal for those who enjoy being outdoors without the intensity of summer heat.
Autumn brings cooler, crisp air and stunning displays of changing foliage, particularly around the wineries and scenic drives. This season is superb for couples interested in wine tasting tours along the Boorool Wine Trail or enjoying gourmet food experiences at local restaurants. The harvest season often brings special events and festivals, offering a chance to sample regional produce and wines.
While summer (December to February) can be popular, it often brings higher temperatures, which might be less comfortable for extended outdoor activities.
