“Its days of glory have passed”
A very famous hotel. We took the advantage of a relatively low weekend rate to stay in such a reputable hotel. Allas, the days of glory are gone. The furniture is old and shabby (both in the lobby and in the room), the carpets are worn, the facility of the bathroom and toilet were nice for the 1960's but not for today. I especially want to note the very poor lighting in the room (18 watt lamp near the bed). I had to remove the lampshade in order to be able to read in bed. The hotel badly needs to be brought to the 21st century. This is especailly true if one considers the very high weekdays rate.
“Lovely hotel”
Excellent location for rail travelers and the conference center . Beautiful lobby, quiet, nice room with a a sofa and desk, and a neat view of the Maison De Ville--an ornate city hall across the street. Do upgrade to the nicer rooms--otherwise you will probably view a courtyard. There is no tea/coffee in the room which is annoying and breakfast is ridiculously expensive. They will give you free tea/coffee in the beautiful lobby if you ask. There are great restaurants in Tours--we didn't eat in the hotel restaurant at all. This is also close to the Visitors Center, where bus tours of the Loire castles originate. It is a walk to the historical downtown, though.
“Francophile”
Tours is our base for visiting the area. We stayed here 2 summer straight. The two times before we stayed at Chateau Pruy and the Chateau at Montbazon(forgot the name). This hotel is great, parking right on the street. Got a room facing le grand boulevard. 5 minutes walk to train station for correspondence a Paris. Clean, largest room in our 20 days stay in France. Tours has great markdown shopping in August. Better price than Paris at the same chains, Celio etc. At old town, there are about 50 reaturants side by side to select. Great energy even for weeknites. Tours is our base in Loire comme Avignon is our base for La Provance or Sarlat for Dordogne. I won't stay inany other hotel here.
“A Little Tired”
This hotel is in a perfect location - close to everything, the train station, restaurants, shopping, and you can walk to everything. The hotel itself is a little old and needs some work, but if you can get a good price it is worth it.
“Nice little hotel in a great location”
Pleasantly surprised by the great location, funky bar, and good food in the hotel's restaurant. The roms vary quite a bit--some updated and some retaining the original old features/decor. I thought the older rooms had more character. Overall, a great hotel that is convenient to much of what Tours has to offer.
“Great Location”
The hotel is located within a short walk of the train station and walking to great restaurants.
“I would stay here once again, price is right and room size is way above average”
This is not a modern building with many amenities, but rather an historical building trying its best to host global travelers. The hotel has great size rooms, the location is excellent to drive into, or to arrive just a couple of blocks away from the train station. Tours is a charming town and this hotel lets you experience this charm at a reasonable price and with reasonable comfort
“What a Wonderful Hotel!”
The hotel is wonderful. Its location is excellent. It is on the same block as Printemps, and Galeries Lafayette is one block away. It is located near the train station. There are numerous restaurants in the vicinity. The room was clean, spacious and airy ; the view from the balcony was lovely. The staff was helpful and courteous. The car park is located adjacent to the hotel.
“Simple; good location”
The rooms were dated, but the location is absolutely fantastic and still makes it worth it as there are not a lot of other options in tours to choose from. The lobby is beautiful.
“Well positioned quality hotel”
This is an older quality hotel, extremely well situated over the road from the Hotel de Ville and within easy walking distance of the old town. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly and had some English. The room we had was quite large, in an older style and while there are some signs of its age it was immaculately clean and comfortable. We had a king-size bed and there was TV with some access to English language channels. There is broadband access in the rooms and one terminal with free internet access above the lounge on the first floor mezzanine. We were very pleased with our stay - four days - and would readily return.
