“Average”
It was an average hotel, that was overly priced and offered nothing exciting, and the so called included breakfast was really standard and boring.
“Great location!”
I liked the hotel a lot. The location is just amazing, however, I just think that the internet was the only problem...they dont provide wireless internet at all. Overall it is a great place to stay!
“Very good hotel indeed”
Good hotel with GREAT location! Simply cross the street - and there's a market, where you can buy fresh cheese and fruits, the subway station is in 3 min, so you can get anywhere you need. The nearest points of interest are Vatican and St. Angelo Castle (5 min). But there's no problem to get to piazza Navona (15 min) or piazza Del Popolo (also there are Pincho's Gardens and Villa Borghese) in 25 min. Rooms are too small, but there are air conditioner, privat bathroom, TV set and fridge - everything you need. Even a hairdryer. Breakfast - nothing special. Want to say THANK YOU to all the staff there, everyone was polite and helpful.
“Great time in rome”
Good location, small rooms I would have liked the complementary breakfast to be open earlier than 7 am
“Terrible bed, the room was the smallest ever. I wouldn't go back.”
The bad. - My bathroom door had a hole in it like it had been kicked. I informed the hotel worker that way we didn't get blamed for it. She said it had just happened (I"m not sure I believe. - Room was way too small. I mean 2 fee on each side of queen bed then you had wall. The shower was 2-feet by 2-feet. - The bed was one of the most uncomfortable I've ever slept in. Fortunately I was very tired. Paper thin pillows. - Elevator door rattled and should be fixed. The good. - Good breakfast. - Pretty good location (5-10 minute walk from ottaviano metro stop). - English speaking employee's. - Price wasn't terrible. - A/C worked adequately - although just barely. It was a central type unit. - Room seemed clean. Summary. Don't be fooled. This isn't a 4-star hotel. You can stay in places called 'Pensione' for cheaper and you'll be more comfortable. This hotel had a pretty good breakfast though. Unlimited food. If the rooms were just a little bigger and the beds were good this hotel would be fine.
“A helpful home”
The staff was friendly and helpful. They even helped us with the bus routeing when a taxi strike was called and we had to get across town for a tour. The only downside was that the beds were a little too firm for my taste, but other than that the stay was lovely and a good value.
“If I go back to Rome I will stay at this hotel again”
Since we arrive at the hotel early our triple room was not ready but the receptionist was so nice that she put my son in a single room and my husband and I in a double room without extra charge. The rooms and bathrooms were clean, the double bed room was big (also the bathroom). Breakfast was okey but it is included at no extra charge. This is not a luxury hotel but the staff was very helpful and I choose this hotel because of it's location location location. The hotel is within walking distance to the Vatican (about 10 minutes), the Castel Sant'Angelo and many shops and restaurants. After visiting sites we would go back to our hotel and rest, later we would walk and have dinner at one of the many restaurants around. This hotel was not expensive.
“Hang on isnt this place a part off a luxury resort chain??”
As im writing this my girlfriend is tell me to stop swearing about the place. As a kid my mum would tell me to clean my room and when I was finished she would yell out is it "mummy clean"? Even I could do better. The bed sheets where never cleaned there the trash was never emptied and the morning breakfast was....unpleasant. However the location was FAN-BLOODY-TASIC!!! 2min walk to the Vatican and just around the corner from a nice little bar that had live music every night. Most of the staff was really good but there was this one baldy headed little....man who was very rude and really seamed like he didn’t want as there. The place was a punish and since have been waned but it was too late.
“A bit grungy...”
The Grand Aurum probably was once a bit more grand than it is today. Despite claiming to be part of a luxury resort chain, this hotel is need of a renovation. Certainly the price is inexpensive, but I've stayed at hotels for this price that were better kept. The staff would 'tidy' the room each day, but I never got the feeling it was cleaned (hair in the sheets repeatedly). The bathroom was run down, rusty, stained, things were broken, missing/burned out lightbulbs, carpet coming up...you get the picture. That said, the staff is very friendly and very helpful and the location is extraordinary---15 minutes walk to Campo dei Fiori, 5 minutes to Borgo Pio which has good restaurants, and for tourists, very near the Vatican. In short, if you don't mind a little shabbiness around the edges, this hotel is ok for the price---if you can't get a place elsewhere in your budget. But keep your eye out in case they do a renovation---given the location, this could be a great place to stay.
“good value hotel”
We stayed 2 nights. Good location, very close to vatican city. Had some difficulty to get to hotel from subway station, because we do speak Italian. Helpful frontdesk. Our room is reasonable size for 2 adults and 2 children. Breakfast was included. Few items to choose but food are good, except the texture and taste of the ham. Supermarket is a block away, underground, under a department store (forgot the name).
