“Great base for Margaret River”

The Grand Mercure Busselton Apartments are great if you have a vehicle and intend exploring the Margaret River and coastline. Our studio apartment was well designed, stylishly furnished, and very clean. Secure parking was available onsite. There was a small convenience store and restaurant nearby, but other shops and restaurants were at least 5-10 minutes drive - too far to walk comfortably. After checking out the Capel Vale winery and Busselton Jetty (both highly recommended) on arrival, we spent the next day driving from the Cape Naturaliste lighthouse to Cape Leeuwin along Caves Road, and returning via the Bussell Highway through Margaret River. Our day included visits to four of the 100 or so wineries in this beautiful region.

“Late Check in”

The only problem we had was arriving after the reception had finished for the night. There was a night number to ring. Problem was that I had a mobile from the UK which was not enabled for Australia. Ended up having to go to a nearby hotel that still had a reception on and asking them nicely if they could ring the number for us. Anyway that was all sorted in the end and we got assigned a room. Problem was there was already a man and women in the bed of this room! Not sure who got the biggest shock him or me. We were then assigned another room. Thankfully unoccupied this time. Nice hotel though in a nice location.
